I want to know why the Patriots are so eager to get rid of Butler?

They aren't. He has value and the Pats want to see what that is. If the Saints offer what they want, they move him. Same with the Saints and cooks.

Pats traded Jamie Collins for a 4th round pick, Chandler Jones for 2nd round pick. Jones was/is a top 5 player at a much more valuable position than corner.

The Pats love having picks to parlay into more picks. Right now they dont have a 1st or 2nd and only 2 picks inside the top 130. I would offer 42 and nothing more.

They aren't. Just looking for the best value out of the situation. I don't think the Pats have any worries if the trade doesn't go through, they can pay him this season and try to work out an extension and if it doesn't happen then they can try to get the comp pick for him the following offseason.

C'mon man. It can still happen tomorrow. He'll never be wrong until the day it happens.

Why not? It's not like they are paying top dollar for a pass rusher anytime soon.

By the nature of him having to slide inside to be really effective, I think that'll scare the market a tad. I'm not saying he won't make a lot of money, but I don't think he'll get what he's truly worth.
