Each day closer to March 14th do you get a little more nervous?

I can honestly say this is the first I’ve even thought about it. The thread title was good though, really hooked me.

I always expect these things to happen at the very last possible second, but yeah. At least we have that 3/14 deadline, which is a lot earlier than these things usually happen.

I know in Sports you cannot say "Never", but I have to believe that Brees wants to be here and the FO wants him here.

So the deal will get done. The numbers cannot be that far apart.

There's no way Drew would go on national t.v. and say he was "a saint for life" if he didn't know that a deal was at least close to getting done.

Perhaps they talk to FA's and get a feel on how they need the contact structured with Drew and the additional FA's to fit with the cap?

The contact period for free agents is March 12-14 so it would lineup with a last minute Brees contract.

Not by Drew Brees. He has too much respect for the New Orleans community.

would be funny if the saints were the ones to leak the whole "drew doesn't want more than garropolo" piece the other day.

Maybe, but it would obviously not be the first time a sports figure looked a camera in the eye and lied about his intentions. Nick Saban and Lane Kiffen I'm looking in your direction....

ESPN ranked all 32 QB situations around the league and The Saints entry made me

quote:

5. New Orleans Saints

QBs under contract: Taysom Hill

This is a pretty stratospheric ranking for Hill, I will grant you that. But the Saints are here because I don't believe there's any chance that starter Drew Brees -- whose contract voids on March 14 -- will be playing anywhere else next season. Assuming that, and coming off another quietly brilliant season that has him just 1,495 yards behind Peyton Manning for the career passing record, Brees carries the Saints into the top five on our list. If something crazy happened and he didn't re-sign in New Orleans ... well, let's just say the Saints would tumble a bit in the next one.

Not really, my wife knows how to cook a steak

We have gone through enough Drew Brees contracts to know that you wont here anything until the week of the deadline.
