My column: Why the New Orleans Saints should draft Tyrann Mathieu

quote:

The New Orleans Saints do not have a second-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft. But they do have a third-, a fourth-and a fifth-rounder and if they're smart they'll use one of them to select Tyrann Mathieu

I'm hoping so. For a 4th or 5th that would be an absolute steal. Although I have a feeling someone will reach as high as the third, late even late second for him. Only takes one team

Nothing wrong with this article, meat. Duncan put all of his "if's" and "CYAs" in there. I was a huge Mathieu fan when he was at LSU. I'd like to see him turn his life around and play great football. It would be perfect if this could happen while playing for the Saints.

Will not happen if he is so close to BR. Best thing for him is to get picked up by a team far, far away from the area.

I think the best thing for him personally is to get on a team as far away from Louisiana as possible. I loved him on LSU, but I think it would be best for him to get away.

I think so too. Wouldn't surprise me to see them take him 3rd round.

never understood this logic. It's unbelievably flawed.

Yeah, I don't see the Saints taking him.

Probably won't be available by the time we're willing to spend a pick on him.

care to elaborate? If he plays for the Saints, he maintains the same influences that he couldn't shake when he was at LSU. The same low lifes would still have readily available contact with him. Unlikely to turn his life around here.

I think he just writes shite to start controversy. I wouldn't be against taking The Pot Badger in the 4th or 5th, but in the 3rd hell no!

Sean Payton texted to Duncan that they would take him in the 4th round. Hence, the article.

And if he goes to the other side of the country he'll have equally as many bad influences and none of the support network. sending him to a big city across the country where he doesn't know a soul sounds like the better option?
