Brees is exactly right.

I saw a poster mention this on a previous thread, but I am surprised the NFL does not utilize the bye week more efficiently for the Thursday night games.

Bye weeks occur generally from weeks 5 - 11. So you could have Thursday Night games from weeks 6 - 12, as well as the traditional Superbowl matchup on the first thursday and the Thanksgiving games (which I would imagine they could work the bye week into this).

TV people probably wouldn't have any of that though.

Maybe while on the topic he can ask why when we are assigned a Thursday night game it's always on the road

Think of it like working out. If you put your body through a grueling workout on sunday. Those muscles and tissues used would not be ready for the same workout on Thursday and injury would be more likely to occur than if done on proper rest. This is known and the league loses all credibility in their stance on safety by not addressing it.

Ask the players about the quarter of a billion dollars they will lose, then see who likes Thursday night football.

Exactly right... if it didn't matter, I'd work out Mon, Tues, Wed, then start over again Thurs, Fri, Sat and only take Sunday off. It's self-evident that this is bad for the players bodies. And don't come at me with "oh but they make millions so frick them..." This isn't about me feeling sorry for the players, this is about me wanting my team fielding healthy, rested players in crucial division games.
