According to my lack of experience reading Loomis we will trade the top pick for two 6th and a 7th rounder

If we're picking top 3, I think we have to take the QB. Have to be aware that in our division with a last place schedule, it'll be very easy to win 4-5 games next year without really trying. No guarantee at all that we'll see a top 3 pick again.
If this QB class falls apart in the last month of the season and Mendoza or short-guy Simpson are simply the best of a very weak class, then maybe trade back for picks that include a 1st the next year. At least then we'd have a chance to move up if needed.

I hate this mentality. The QB is either worth a top pick or they aren’t. Taking a position (or not taking a position) because of where you are is just dumb.
That’s how you end up like the Browns or Jets just continually drafting QBs but never getting any better.

If there isn’t a top pick available, you aren’t getting a lot in return. Somebody might move up a few picks and give you a 3rd or future 2nd, but they aren’t trading up and giving you a first for Jeremiyah Love or Jordyn Tyson. It’s not a heads I win tails you lose situation. Either a great player is there or they aren’t.

I’m drafting Mendoza. Let’s get our guy. Sorry but Shough isn’t it. He never was. Dude was nothing special in college. No way to sugarcoat it but it was a stupid arse pick. Mendoza looks like he was built in a quarterback lab and Hes about to walk off with a Heisman . Get your stud qb and let’s build the rest as we go.

I haven’t watched much of Indiana this year, but I’m watching them play Penn State today and he doesn’t look like anything special. I know it’s just one game, but he’s being outplayed by this freshman from Penn State at the moment.

Mendoza legacy drive coming up. Not doing shite today and down to Penn St with 6 min left. Honestly I never been in love with the idea of him. Seems more like a high level college game manager IMO.

If you have the 1, you take the QB.

People do this shite to the NFL draft QBs every year. I find it so funny that a guy is boiled down to 1 bad performance despite have 20 other good games on tape

Depends what we see rest of year. If Shough sucks take Mendoza unless Jets blow you away

I admitted I haven’t watched him much. The one time I did, he didn’t play great. I’m not going to call Indiana for his film or anything.

You do realize that 2027 isn’t a guaranteed better year for QBs right? People said that about 2026 and so many favorites fell off.
Getting the right QB is hard, waiting until everything around them is perfect BEFORE you even take a chance is how you end up being the Steelers or even better yet…the Jets. A once loaded roster that now they had to trade off their best players because they were never in position to draft another guy

Random Indiana receivers have made about 5 highlight catches today, when there's constant complaining about Saints QBs inaccuracies for not hitting guys right between the numbers on every throw.

The Steelers got the first qb off the board 4 years ago. Just because it's the top qb in the draft doesn't mean he's good.

Definitely not like the Jets since they've drafted a new franchise qb in the top 3 twice in the last decade.

Doing the opposite makes you the Lions with Stafford or Jets with Darnold.

And yet my opinion is just as valid as yours or anyone else on this board.
