Pretty solid. But I'd rather Budda Baker at 42.

still way early for all the new mocks but the first few mock drafts out so far show Thomas as a lock to still be there at 11 so.... this mock is different

I like Baker, but if Zach Cunningham is available at #42 I would run to the podium with our card. Plus they have us taking Marcus Maye in round 3. He's a good S.

I wouldn't mind Obi at 32 or definitely 42 if that somehow happens.

ya know its very interesting to think about the way the draft projections are all shaping up.
the browns at 12 and the cardinals at 13 both are projected to be going after QB at these picks so I am hoping its possible for the cardinals to want to do a trade swap with us to leapfrog the browns to get the better QB prospect.
I sure hope something like that happens s o we get another pick somewhere in later rounds, most likely wouldn't be much, maybe a 5th but more realistic a 6th or 7th but it still wouldn't change our defensive pick options if they both do pick QB's

If Cunningham is there at 32 or 42 and loomis doesn't take him I'll cry

I'm willing to bet the Skins take him in round 1
Posted on 3/12/17 at 5:14 pm to keakar
It would at least be a fifth

I would absolutely love Cunningham at #42. Imma fan of his and I think he would be a great pick at #42. That being said, this mock has Taco Charlton being picked at #41. And if he fell one more spot to #42, I would have a hard decision to make. Because IMO nothing makes a defense better then a good pass rush. And that would give you two chances to land a good pass rusher and I like both and think both will be good pros, so you take a need position which is also probably the most important position on defense and turn it into a position of strength with a great rotation.
Imagine a DE rotation of
Cameron Jordan
Kasim Edebali
Hawaiian Kikaha
Obum Gwacham
D.J.Pettaway
With
Derek Barnett
Taco Charlton
And
Paul Kruger
Darryl Tapp
Other rookie, rookie free agents,etc.
And whoever else the Saints decide to let battle for a roster spot
D.Barnett at R.End and Taco at L.End with Cameron Jordan and Rankins/Fairley on the inside on 3rd down/obvious passing downs - Yes Please!!!
And in this mock, I like the Marcus Maye (safety from Florida) pick at #75. But in this mock they have Tre'Davious White going one pick later to Philadelphia at #76 and there is no way I pass on Tre White in the 3rd round for just about anyone.
So yes again, I would take Quincy Wilson at #32 & Tre White at #75 and turn a need position into a position of strength
Imagine a healthy
Delvin Breaux
P.J. Williams
Damian Swann
Ken Crawley
With
Quincy Wilson
&
Tre White added
Plus the Harris Boys
B.W. Webb
Kyle Wilson
Other rookie, rookie free agents,etc.
And whoever else the Saints decide to let battle for a roster spot
Should be a difficult decision keeping 5-7 out of those and should have a deep rotation with great nickel and dime backs
Again position of need to a position of strength
I would like the draft they give us now and it would be extremely hard to turn down Zach Cunningham for Taco Charlton or just about any other player
But I would love
11.) DE- Derek Barnett
32.) CB- Quincy Wilson
42.) DE- Taco Charlton
75.) CB- Tre'Davious White
Probably even more

Charlton and White won't fall that far
Posted on 3/12/17 at 9:46 pm to Lester Earl
Nope not even close. But that doesn't mean there won't be great players left for the 2nd and 3rd round

I'm still curious about the buzz for Thomas. He plays in a weak conference and didn't have amazing stats.
Only a one year full time starter? Because he sophomore stats otherwise are really not good.
Only thing great about him has been his combine.

Young & projectable (only 21)
2 way player, great vs run. Can play inside on 3rd down
Great frame
Excellent short area movement
Cam Jordan had 16.5 sacks in 4 seasons. Thomas has 11.5 in half the amount of games
JJ Watt never had more than 7 sacks in a season in college. Stop getting fixated on sacks, that's lazy

White is the best CB in this draft IMO.

Zach Cunningham
Do it.
We need help at LB, I don't care how many we have slated on the roster right now or not.
keep working on that front seven and hope there aren't as many injuries at CB than there have been the last few years.
Edit:
take Foster at #32 if he should fall for some fricked up reason. Somebody always does.
his exit from the Combine probably turned some teams off.

And you'll end up with a character issue, dumb linebacker. I'd rather they get someone not named Foster in the 2nd.

His tackle numbers and tackles for loss aren't great either. It's not just the sacks.
He had one good (not great) year so he hasn't proven he can play at a good level consistently.
He played in a weak conference and didn't dominate.
He is NOT going to play inside at the NFL level. He doesn't have the weight for it and will get manhandled.
And Watt is a beast of a man. This guy is nowhere near his size. He's 3 inches shorter and 20 lbs. lighter. To compare them is ridiculous.
