Who will the Saints draft with 1st round pick? (assuing we dont trade up). CBS has us taking zaven collins, but im not sold.

No one ever knows. Besides Rankins, it seems like it’s always a surprise. Below is my list I’m watching for.
Patrick Surtain II, CB alabama
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB Notre Dame
Tyson Campbell, CB UGA
Jaycee Horn, CB USCe
Azeez Ojulari LB, UGA
Micah Parson, LB Penn State
Zaven Collins, LB Tulsa

just watched his tape. yea he's big and strong and fast, but this has major davenport vibes to me. i know they play separate positions, but it feels similar. freak athlete from a small school that we reach for in the first round.

Jeff Ireland went to see the LBer at Notre Dame's Pro Day today, instead of Florida's or LSU's.
Of course, ND also has about 4 OL-men that will all be drafted, so he could've been checking one them out as well.

Zaven Collins and nick Bolten are better fits in our defense than Micah, JOK, or ojulari.

lots of small school players have made the jump to the NFL and become quality starters, pro bowlers, HOF'ers.
We have had several and they workout just as much if not more than when we draft the big school kids.
Zaven is a fine pick if he falls to 28 I would also like Greg Newsome
then depending on which way they go in the first target someone to fill the other need in the 2nd
like Jabrill Cox, Barron Browning, Pete Werner, Nick Bolton or
Eric Stokes, Kelvin Joseph, Tyson Campbell, Ambry Thomas
however Saints FO will do what they please and I have been pleased with almost everything they have done since Ireland came in

I want Horn to be the pick. Have a feeling it will be Newsome thiough unless we trade up for him.

Agreed. Horn is the guy I want but seems to be rising and Fairley is falling bc of injury. Horn could easily end up top 10 or 15 when all is said and done

I don’t think that would be considered a reach. Plenty of great players came from small schools. Demario Davis went to ArKansas State, Khalil Mack went to Buffalo, Bobby Wagner went to Utah State, Demarcus Ware went to Troy, etc. etc.

Agree 100%, crazy but I have a feeling Fairley may drop down to us due to his medicals. We may have to take that gamble, a month ago he was the top rated corner by some experts.
Still want Horn though. If Drew lasted one more year, he woulda played with father and son which is pretty crazy to think about....
Think our group of players will be Collins, Newsome, or maybe Marshall. One of those three. Or Fairley if he unexpectedly drops that far down.
