I feel like this is said every year by every team.

I think Armstead will be fine.

I think we sign a vet at C or RT and the one we don't sign we draft and start him as a rookie. I think we draft at least 3 lineman in this draft, especially since we will get another pick for Sproles.

But I am worried about the O-Line but Loomis, Payton and Rob Ryan have a plan. I have faith, especially after signing Byrd

How was your popcorn?

I think they target one of the WR's projected to be chosen late in the 1st round. The team can address needs at CB, RT & C Rounds 2-4 if they don't do first in free agency.

Projected 4th - 5th rounder before the combine. Doubt he moves up 3 rounds. He will go late 2nd at the earliest and should be there in the 3rd.

What's the knock against him then?

since we totally just fricked our cap (but beefed our secondary) I would say our needs just shifted slightly. We will have to make do at corner with what we had (or find a late gem that can somehow beat out White or Prob the #2 spot) because it looks like there's no chance of us resigning Strief or DLP, and probably Haralson too. I know we have Jr and Butler but that's awfully thin, especially if we're still trying to continue to move to a true 3-4. We need linebackers.

So I'd weigh our needs at around...

OLB
T (this and C are relative; I don't know what the team thinks of Lelito and Harris)
C
CB/WR
ILB

I think we're really gonna need a great draft this time around.

We have some holes on defense and especially offense.

You can't say that yet. We haven't seen the specifics. We don't even know what his year one figure is going to be.

Outside of corner 2 and olb depth what do you see as a defensive hole?

I just want to see Armstead play with some consistency. He was off and on. I mean, people bought into Charles Brown at times too and that is disturbing.

I'd just be more comfortable with a solid vet occupying the other tackle spot or center spot. I think a rookie center will be easier to transition than a tackle, obviously.

Played at Rice, battled a few injuries early on in his college career and is a 5th year SR so is a bit older. Thats really about it. Hes got all the tools to be great, and was great in college.

Film wise, hes awesome. But I dont think any scouts and NFL people knew what type of athlete he is. All were both impressed and surprised at the #s he posted at the combine.

Hes probably moving up on draft boards, but I dont think he goes from a 4-5 round guy to late 1st or early 2nd. But, he does have all the tools so I most def could see someone taking him in the 2nd.

Everything Ive read post combine has basically said he could be the best value pick in the mid rounds out of all players.

And in regards to the OP, if Jordan Matthews is there at 27, I think its too hard to pass on him.

we might need to draft a guard too, might have to dump Evans or Grubbs next year for cap room

If there is an O-line available that is high on our board then that without a doubt that, don't really see us keeping Strief or DLP now.

You don't know that. Four hours ago nobody would have predicted we would sign Byrd. Trust Loomis man.

I agree with the guy who said Brandin Cooks if he's still there. Saints were apparently enamored with him recently. I'd be for it. Any dynamic WR would help draw attention away from Colston and Graham.

Other than OLB depth and a number 2 corner wheres the hole in this top 5 defense that just added one of the best safeties in the league?

Our offense is the only thing that needs addressing and it's a serious one.

We can easily get a number 2 corner and OLB depth in the draft. Or with the draft pick we get with Sproles use that extra pick and combine it with future ones to move up the board to get a top notch OL

i still feel like WR in RD1 is a waste, considering the depth at WR in this class. Brandon Cooks is solid but we can get equal value in round 2 or 3, even 4

Sorry y'all, it didn't really come out how I meant it. I know we will be OK with the cap - I know Loomis can make it work - I just meant that even if Byrd's deal is super backloaded, we are still pushing the brim of the cap even once we trade Sproles and cut PT. It's going to be hard to find free agents to pick up with the little room that we have left. It just looks to me like we're going to have to look to the draft to plug a few holes.

Exactamundo. I definitely see us grabbing a guy late to try and see if we can get a gem there.

Good news is we can try next draft too if this one doesn't work out, but we'll have to make the cap work until then.
