Cameron Wolfe
@CameronWolfe
Dolphins still looking for OT starter after La’el Collins agrees to deal with Cincy. Miami is still very much interested in signing top LT Terron Armstead, I’m told. But of course they aren’t alone in terms of competition.

Big fan of Armstead, but similar to Marcus Williams, as much as they do great the negatives keep me from wanting the Saints to invest too heavily.

Do we get the dead cap hit if Armstead signs elsewhere?
Like 13 mil.

Yes. The only way to have alleviated (somewhat) the dead cap hit would have been to sign him to an extension prior to the beginning of the new league year. If he were to resign at this point whatever cap number on the new deal would be on top of the 13 mill existing hit.

The James Hurst contract is very valuable to this situation for the Saints.

Armstead was waiting.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign with the dolphins.

Not counting his rookie season or playoff games, he’s played in 91 of a possible 129 games. And I think he played injured a lot in ‘19 and ‘20 to try to win for Brees.

I just don’t see him giving us, or anyone, more than 10 games a season. I think you have to take that into account when you pay him. If someone wants to pay him more, I’m okay taking a T early on in the draft.

There are some good OL and WR in this draft and there should be value in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th round at those positions.

May be time to move ram to LT. Hurst can man a tackle this season, so maybe we can still go wr in 1st

I’m extremely salary cap dumb, and you sound like you know what you’re taking about, but how does a FA have a cap hit against us?

Not just no but frick no. You don’t move an All Pro RT to LT just to fill a hole.

He’ll go to Miami and turn into the NFL’s version of Cal Ripken, Jr.

That’s just Saints luck.

I think hurst will play lt unless they draft one early.
If they do you move hurst inside.

I don't think they are happy with ruiz in the slightest.

James Hurst has the best contract on the entire team.

.

You realize we moved an All American, first round pick LT (Ram) to RT to “fill a hole” right?

There are incentives in Ram’s contract that will pay him more if he plays LT for us

Throckmorton graded as the 4th worst run blocker and 6th worst pass blocker in all of the National Football League. No bueno
