re: Does anyone in here think Richardson will be an impact guy?

1. Drafting a QB is a total crapshoot.
2. The only 2 QBs I’ve ever been sure would be great NFL QBs are Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
3. I’ve been wrong about more QBs than I have been right on.

All that aside, I can’t see Richardson becoming a good NFL QB. He is super athletic and gifted, but he was such a bad QB in college. He’s a less accurate but faster Taysom Hill. A more athletic Tim Tebow.

I think he’d be great as a wildcat QB who plays TE/RB. As a full time QB? Just don’t see it.





That being said, I could be completely wrong and he may go to a team that decides to develop and build an offense around him to the point he is good.

I was shitting on Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson? I don't recall. You sure? I'll admit I didn't think much of Josh Allen as a prospect and without the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn't like him coming out now. What he became from what he started out as is unprecedented.

ETA- I don't know if I've ever expressed an opinion on Lamar. I thought out of that draft class only he and Josh Rosen had star potential but had a fairly high bust likelihood. Thought D'Arnold had the highest floor but not a very high ceiling, and kinda liked Baker in the right system.

I don't know about that. Hill is pretty damn fast. He ran a 4.4

If you could build a QB Weird Science style Richardson would be the prototype from a physical standpoint. He checks all of the boxes. But I wouldn't touch him in the first round. Maybe the best comp for him is Cam Newton. But in Cam's one season at Auburn there was zero doubt he was the best player on the field any any game. He was dominant. Richardson never was. He would have a few series a game where he would make jaw dropping plays...then he would disappear in the same game with bad decision making and poor accuracy.

Whoever takes him will have to be fully committed to tailoring an offense around his strengths and not just hoping to "mold" him into a prototypical NFL QB. Somewhat similar to the Eagles with Hurts. Then again, Hurst had a year of college at Oklahoma where he became a more polished passer. Richardson never had that.

I think this is a guy that will drop just like Willis did last year in the draft. The more scouts and GM's dig through his film they will see what everyone else did when watching Florida. A great play followed by 6 average plays. He had a great game against Tenn. and a good game against Utah. Other than that he was pretty much an average to below average SEC QB this year and in several games, a very bad QB.
