No because the playoffs in the NFL are decided by record, not by subjective measures.

The Saints strength of schedule doesn't influence their post season shot, LSU's does or it can depending on the records of all teams involved.

So, if the Saints needed the Falcons to beat the Panthers in week 17 for the Saints to win the division or get a wildcard, you wouldn't pulled the Falcons?

If LSU needed Bama to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl for LSU to goto the SECCG, you wouldn't pull for Bama?

Stop.

It was based on the debate about hoping the Falcons would have won so the NFC title game would be at home if the Saints also win.

I could never root for the Falcons to win anything regardless of the circumstances.

I'm not melting and found pleasure in watching the Falcons lose (aside from the effect it had on where the Saints will play next week).

But I have never understood how an LSU fan can pull for Bama and just wonder if that same person, if a Saints fan, will also pull for the Falcons.

If so, please explain it to me.

Same question to you then ...

I don’t care much for LSU, pretty much just a Saints fan. I hate the Falcons. I’m not an LSU hater, just don’t pay much attention to them

This, you bunch of sensitive pussies.

Stop trying to justify rooting for that shite show of an organization. The Saints didn’t need the falcons to win in order to qualify for the playoffs.

Yeah I wanted that.

I wasn't rooting for the Falcons to win.

I was rooting for an NFC championship game in the Dome instead of outside in the winter in Philly.

Because in college, there isn't a draft. And there aren't strict rules on who gets to the playoffs. Recruiting and seeding are based hugely on perception of the team and the conference. So when an SEC team wins, it helps everyone in the conference

Nope. Even if it meant missing the playoffs. The trash Falcons fans to this day make Katrina jokes and always talk about Katrina refs. Not forgivable IMO.

As many times as we have been fricked by SEC officiating, especially when it benefits the Gumps, I hope the entire conference loses every fricking game they play. I love LSU in spite of the crooked arse, inbred SEC.

I root for going to a NFC champ game in our city and the economic impact on hotels, restaurants, bars and their employees. I also root for being favored at home in playing for the super bowl.

I don't care about the Conference, I care about LSU.

Lets revisit this after NSD and see how much BAMA's success helped LSU.

I'll play along;

I will root for anything based on the individual circumstances, if it helps my team. And only then. I would, for example, root for Bama to win the Iron Bowl if that allows LSU to win the SEC West (as that is actually rooting against Auburn who might be in front of LSU).

I rooted against Carolina in week 17 so the Saints would win the NFC South; their opponent was Atlanta so you could say I pulled for Atlanta to win that game.

Had the Saints played and won yesterday, and the Eagles/Falcons played today, then yes, I would have rooted for Atlanta to win. In order to set up a home game next week.

We haven't played yet. I hope we win, but it isn't guaranteed, and we aren't favored. So unless and until we win today, I don't care about other outcomes, other than the fact that I don't want the Falcons going further than the Saints.

My best case scenario is the Saints winning the Superbowl. My worst case prior to the playoffs was losing to the Panthers. My worst case prior to yesterday's games was losing to the Falcons. I don't want a division rival going deeper into the playoffs than we do.

At this point, we can't have a bad end to the season anymore. We've wpn the division, beat our rivals head-to-head, and finished with a better record than them. We're the last NFC South team standing, and the best. Anything further is gravy. Minnesota is a tough team, and if we beat them I think we're likely to beat Philly. We bring more offense to the table than Atlanta did, and I THINK we could outscore them home or away. But that's assuming we beat Minny, which isn't a shoe-in.

For what it's worth, I pulled for Wisconsin to beat Ohio State, as they would have went 13-0 and made the playoffs, and knocked Alabama out of the playoff picture. Yeah, I probably would have pulled for UGA to win, but any of the 4 would have been good.
