6'3 265lb

Career stats

192 tackles
51 TFL
32 SACKS

Tied with "Reggie White" for University sack record.

This guy is it, idk what else to say. He's proved in the bigger games he's better and may more consistent than Myles Garrett. I pray he's around. sadly today he'll probably boost his stock into top 10.

with the way Rankins exploded at the end of the year, could you imagine

Jordan
Fairley
Rankins
Barnett

Thats a top 5 NFL D Line instantly.

I know I'm high on Zach Cunningham but D Line is where it starts. He's number 1 on my board

No. They wouldn't even be top 5 in talent for starters.

Besides, great D-lines have depth outside of the starters.

Saints have not enough talent and no depth to speak of.

So a D-line that leads the NFL in sacks with their starters is not a great D-line?

Sure.

I don't think he is better than Myles Garrett, but I agree with you that he would be an amazing addition for us. I don't think he'll be there for us in the 13-16 range unfortunately.

I know everyone hates it.... But I wouldn't be opposed to a trade up to 9-11ish if he is there, assuming it is for him and depending on the price. Personally I feel like this team is really only a few pieces away so I would be fine with a trade up in this scenario.

I think it's going to depend on his combine whether he's there or not. Specifically what he runs in the 40 and cone drills. Tim Williams is going to run in the 4.80-4.85 range but is probably a more explosive pass rusher. He could fall to 15-20. Barnett would need a similar or worse 40 to slide that low I believe. From a "total player" perspective I actually like Demarcus Walker from FSU better than Barnett, and I like Williams better as a pass rusher. All three guys can play though and would help out immediately

In all honesty I think this is a year that a QB needy team (Cleveland, NYJ, Chicago, SF) will just go BPA and forego trying to find a 'franchise' QB. I honestly don't think Barnett is going to last past 8

Just saw a mock draft that had him going 8, we're at 15. We take Cunningham which I'm okay with

Garrett may possess the better first step/quickness in pass rushing situations but Barnett is the better defender against the run. That isn't to say Barnett is by no means slow off the snap.

Power run teams have had success running right at Garrett because he can sometimes get up the field too much or he gets mauled against run blocking tackles. Barnett possesses brute strength that makes a TFL waiting to happen against the run, along with his sack totals. Barnett is the most well rounded in of this class.

The added pass rush & an additional body against the run on a defense that has played the run well, would be a major help. The pass rush more than anything. Because Barnett would be the inexperienced player potentially on the Saints defense, that would mean lots of one on one opportunities in pass rush situations as a rookie.

Even moving up just a few spots will be costly though. This franchise has traded up & traded away enough picks under this regime.

This is probably true. The 2017 QB class is not very good at all.

First off, Williams will run faster than 4.80. He will be in the 4.6 range. You are seriously underestimating his speed. Secondly, Carl Lawson is a better pass rusher than Walker & better against the run than Williams. As good as Williams is coming off the edge in passing situations, his weight is going to be liability in the NFL against the run.
