Belichick had losing seasons 4 of his first 5 seasons, and he was fired after year 5. Goes to NE, and he has another losing season. Then he blew up.
No, I'm not saying Allen will be Belichick.

Well if Dennis Allen finds the next Tom Brady - which recency bias will tell you NE success had far more to do with than Belichick - more power to him.

Regardless of what you think of DA. If you have someone as 27th out of 32; you’re saying their a bad coach. If you’re not sure if they’re bad, shouldn’t they be ranked higher?
Not saying I don’t disagree with the ranking; especially considering his record, just commenting on the guy waffling on his ranking

They have done a good job assembling a team. Now what he does with it remains to be seen.

rank him all the way down at No. 27 out of the league’s 32 head coaches.
This is about where he belongs until proven otherwise.

This is mostly true, though Tucker is being a tad dishonest here in his opening statement. Allen is a bad coach until he shows he's not.
The only credit I can give Allen for last year is his teams never quit and he never lost the team.

quote:yes, this is true, he has never lost the team and the players really like the guy, I noticed that last season. He seems to be a real likable player's coach type of guy, and now if he can only turn that into Ws, he'll be fine then. What I don't like about him is his passive, soft personality that shows NO damn fire whatsoever. Smh

As a player or if I played for him, I want a coach that shows a rage and fire inside that you know has your back, and will light a fire underneath you to go get after it on the football field. A coach that goes after the officials when they make a lousy call, that's a coach that is gonna win games. That's what Payton had going for him even though he could be an arse at times.

DC head coaches not named Belichick, Tomlin or Harbaugh usually are. I can't see how Loomis and the rest of the crew doesn't realize this.
