That’s you dude

You are arguing against taking BPA because scouting is inexact in favor or drafting for need without realizing or acknowledging that the only way to identify a player of “need” is through scouting.

Also you guys are treating BPA too literally. Every team has a board, there are definitely tiers but generally speaking there will be marginal differences between guys ranked close together. I agree to a degree every position can be a need, however some are more immediate needs. For example let’s say the highest rated player left on your board is a WR but you’re pretty good at WR and have a more immediate need at DL and the highest rated DL is 2 or 3 spots lower, then taking the DL is fine. If there’s a big gap, then consider taking the WR or trading down.

The Bears are an example of this. The BPA was Bryce Young but they have a QB. So they traded back and then did it again, getting extra capital to build with

No shite. That's the way it's being used here.

*ETA: again, I'm talking about this from the team perspective, not content creators. Every team has their tiers of players for their system. A guy who doesn't fit the scheme will likely be on their list (unless we're talking about New England), just lower than prospects who fit their system. Take a guy like Nolan Smith. I'm sure the Saints had a grade on him, but he's more of a 4th rounder for us than a team who uses smaller edges

Drafting has to be a combination of BPA and need. Teams have too many roster restrictions to just go with the perceived BPA, nor should they reach for a need and pick a player at the right position w/o the appropriate level of ability. They have to hit that sweet spot that beings BPA and need together. Some of it is the luck to have good players in a position of need fall to you. A lot of it is good scouting and smart strategy. It is never perfect.

Well said. So far this draft is rather enjoyable and logical… remember when Payton drafted David Jones from Wingate in 07? Hahahahahah

Lol Sean Payton drafts made us competitive for years and won us a superbowl. What the hell have 2 Dennis Allen drafts done???!! This is just an asinine statement to make.
