Someone on ESPN this morning said San Fran is willing to work on an extension, but Samuel isn’t negotiating at the moment. Now that may have changed since this morning.

Supposedly one of the issues is his duel threat role. He doesnt want to risk his health playing RB snaps. While understandable, he is instantly limiting how teams use him. No thanks.

Yeah just saw that. With that new information I would pass as well. Part of what's earned him a new salary is his running ability

He wants to be traded and then be given a huge contract extension after one great season of production. No thanks.

Honestly would trade them Michael Thomas and a 1st for Deebo

You can tell who considers the salary cap (reality) and who thinks of this like fantasy football or Madden.

Trade for one of the best receivers in the game? I guess we should consider it

One of the best in the game? Stretch. Very good? Yes.

He’s a gadget player that had one big season so far in his career and wants to be paid like Tyreke Hill. I wouldn’t offer him anything more than $15 mil a year and that’s stretching it. If he doesn’t want to play RB some of the time either like is being rumored then I’d offer him even less than that.

Go ahead and make the case for trading Thomas, incurring the huge cap impact of the move, resigning Deebo for more money than Thomas...AND giving up a first as well.

Would the contract be that big of a hurdle, with the way Mickey manipulates the cap?

The real hinderance should be what SF wants for him, shite they wanted 2 1’s for Jimmy, a broken, average QB…

Hybrid WR/RB

He wouln't need to be involved in the run game in N.O. He would be a great addition though. IMHO we need a play maker slot WR. I don't think we have the money for a Deebo Samuel or A.J. Brown but we could use a WR similar to those two.

You would want to pay him big money and remove a major part of his game?

He’s not been a typical downfield WR1. His value has come from short plays he has taken the distance.

Did you read my post at all? That's what a slot receiver does.

Ideally you want to keep him healthy by taking less hits. Don't use him the same as Kamara.

While also not doing the things that might possibly even make him worth that money. And also, he’s been injury prone going back to high school.

Supposedly they haven't been hesitant to pay him.

He doesn't want to play running back anymore.

Yes. I read it. I'm not saying he doesn't have value in the slot. That's where almost all of his value as a WR is. But, a lot of his other value is in the run game. He does things that very few can with the ball in his hands.

I just don't know if it makes sense to pay him and then decide you are going to limit his role. For as great as he is, he hasn't been an elite downfield WR.
