"This is surreal, because I know this is what a lot of people dream for," Davenport said at his pro day. "This wasn’t necessarily my dream, but it’s growing into one.”?

He better damn well "grow into" the dream quick because we went all out for this melonfarmer!

EDIT: ok.. I read too much into that quote and panicked a bit. You guys all bring up good points. Thanks for easing my mind about this pick. Forgive the Momentary Lapse of Reason.

If being good at your profession requires that it’s your dream job, 95% of the population should be fired.

Quit being lazy, he is very smart and has other interests....kind of like a guy named Cam Jordan. Let’s hope Jordan gets his priorities right and does nothing but eat, sleep football because he has sucked so far.

Our locker room is the perfect spot for this guy. If he doesn't "love" it now, he will after about 10 minutes in a locker room with our group. They're all young and some clowns. Great spot for him.

And 95% of jobs suck arse. Odds of starting in the NFL are infinitesimal. I'd be fricking stoked to be in his position

Lol true. Read too much into that quote. I mean, MD is apparently huge into Anime, isn't Cam Jordan as well? Maybe a little warford-strief esque bromance in the making?

Pretty sure a guy that signed on at UTSA to play WR never dreamed of being a top 15 pick at DE a few years later.

One of the good attributes to MD was his high motor, work ethic, and love of the game. You pulled out one random quote when there are hundreds of others from him, players, and coaches that speak the opposite.

You're living in a fantasy world if you think every NFL players, even the good ones, all love their jobs sooooooo much.

Love of football isn't a requirement, read up on Curtis Martin.

to me this sounds more like him thinking that this wasn't his dream because maybe it wasn't really possible, but now it is. especially coming from UTSA

Yep. I read a quote out of context without the facts and went with it like some libtard. Forgive the bad post. Def feel better about MD now though

It's possible that his dream was playing WR.
I'm sure he's happy to be taken in the first round.
