Smyth as a Saint: 3-1 (.75 wining %)
Groupe as a Colt: 0-3 (0.00 winning %) [2025 Colts before Groupe: 8-4]
Groupe as a Saint: 16-29 (.35 winning %)

Maybe we found out Groupe is just bad luck to have around!

Smyth: 2 for 3
Groupe: 18 for 26

The name Smyth means "blacksmith" or "metalworker," an occupational surname derived from the Old English word smið (meaning "to strike with a hammer")

"Grupe" is often a surname, especially German, meaning someone living near a ditch or channel, or possibly a grave digger, but it's also a variation or typo for "group," derived from French/Italian for a cluster or collection. So at best a gravedigger at worst a groupie for a band.

There’s no way that’s a real photo of Grupe…

Kinda stupid thread. He’s killing it with the Colts. Hasn’t missed a kick, hit a 60 yarder pressure kick the week before that shoukd have won them the game.

Sucks he couldn’t perform that way here.

Do you not realize it’s a play on the game day entertainment? Besides, I much prefer Charlie to the 150 lb groupie.

Charlie would be 10/11 with a 60 yarder as well if he hadn’t changed his form for the long try. Learning moment

Ehh frick him. Dude sucked for a long time and talks like he wasn't given a chance. Koo got cut after a bad week, Saints gave Grupe most of the season to be bad.

FYI, 18/26 is higher % than 2/3.

But we are all with you, glad Grupe is gone!

Yep. But this may be the deal where the sting of rejection points you toward some flaws and turns you into a better person, or in this case, a better kicker.

Not defending Grupe but it seems like the change of scenery has done him good. As is the case for most young kickers in the league just starting out.

I just think it’s funny that he put us on blast saying it was good to be playing meaning football for a division leading team, then goes on to be winless and will likely be out of the playoffs while we go on a winning streak.

Saints have Grupe more than most the season. He shouldn’t have been brought back after last year and honestly could have been replaced after year 1. He’s been bad enough every year as a saint to justify cutting him each year. He’s nuts to act like we held him back somehow.
