I keep seeing where Underhill and Ross Jackson are pointing to where one positive for Marrone was that he helped Ruiz get better.

Did they not watch this season……Ruiz is fricking awful! That was a TERRIBLE extension by Loomis (at least as of now)

He was arguably our 2nd best offensive linemen, which certainly isn't saying much.

For the production and play of Peat this year at LT, Peat was actually underpaid. How many starting LT’s you know make about 8 million a year. And he stayed healthy. I’m talking this year only.

It’s my understanding Loomis declined his 5th year option and re negotiated a lower deal.

The found outright cut him because of how pathetic the OLine was talent wise and little FA money to spend. (Yea if the would not have signed Carr. Blah blah ).

Ruiz has been a disappointment at guard but he was drafted as a center to replace McCoy after Brees retired and let McCoy play guard which he is equally good at but McCoy played well enough at center that they kept him there and played Ruiz out of position and in a system he was not used to Man from what I understand. I’m interested to see what he can do with better coaches and a zone scheme they will obviously run.

Yea Peat was solid this year and really bailed out the line at LT. He may have played well enough to get attention at LT in FA but he not getting middle to upper tier FA LT money. He’s a guard that can play LT but it’s really betting on him as a full time LT.
It will be interesting seeing what is done with the Line in this new offense. Do any of them fit what they want to do? Hurst and Peat are UFAs and Ram is a medical question mark. If I had to guess OLine would get a mid to upper mid FA at either guard or Tackle and a First or second round draft pick. I could see peat being resigned as a guard/tackle but only if he’s willing to take a deal similar to where he’s at now. Or his 2023 number. The key will be what offers he gets in FA.

#37 of 64 guards on PFF I think or close.

26th rated Oline New Orleans Saints
LT Andrus Peat, LG James Hurst, C Erik McCoy, RG Cesar Ruiz, RT Ryan Ramczyk

"The New Orleans Saints, as a whole, are a maddeningly inconsistent team. Their offensive line is just another example. Playing Peat at tackle is the definition of failing up. However, he’s been better at tackle than he was at guard, and he’s certainly better than their other options at the position. "

We talk about getting this person and that person. Whats the point. Am I spoiled for great Oline play? You bet look where it took us. Peat looked good at LT. Does any one have his grade on his starts there? The rest of them could all be replaced. If we picked up 3 in the draft I wouldn't mind.

The PFF rating system works like this:

100-90 Elite
89-85 Pro Bowler
84-70 Starter
69-60 Backup
59-0 Replaceable

Ruiz graded at a 51.2 on the PFF page. That’s replaceable (terrible)
