Please don’t pay a 32 year old QB on the downhill of his career who even at his best was only a middle of the road starter $30+ million a year. Jesus bring Dalton back for 10% of the cost and 90% of the production if that’s where you’re aiming. Let someone else make that franchise altering mistake.

That's not how this works. The FA period exists.

Not for players that are cut. As soon as he was cut, he technically could have signed a contract right after

Carr has said he’s going to take his time and visit other teams. It’s not happening soon

Nah. Dalton will keep you in mediocrity. Go get a QB on the level of Ian Book to start. Pay him minimum and roll out the tank.

For the record I am very much in favor of us going after Carr, but I found this list from an ESPN article interesting:
Most Regular Season Starts Without A Playoff Win, Active QBs
QUARTERBACK GAMES STARTED
Andy Dalton 162
Derek Carr 142
Carson Wentz 92
Jameis Winston 80
Teddy Bridgewater 65

So we have a chance to have started all five.

Then it’s settled, definitely need to bring in Carr and have Wentz on retainer

Imagine being given the best receiver in the league and having the league’s leading rusher while having your worst season as a pro and being surprised the team you’ve quarterbacked for years dumps you.
Imagine further that fans of a team are clamoring for their squad to sign said quarterback when he’s equivalent to what they already have.
Can’t decide which is funnier.

I pray to God that he signs elsewhere. Dalton or Carr on the field is a push. Dalton is not a long term commitment and Carr would be. Dalton would cost much less than Carr.
So Dalton it is for me.

Looks like we're on track to have signed 80% of guys on that list...
