150M is what the starting NFL QB market bears these days. Derek Carr is the 17th highest paid QB. He's probably about the 17th best QB in the NFL right now. He's not an elite QB, or even a good one. He's an average to slightly below average starting QB and is paid accordingly

Your entire argument stands on the premise that Carr “should” be paid in line with his production. As if that is a smart thing to do. Or you just think we should pay him that much because “everyone else is doing it”.. Ask yourself this, who was going to pay Carr even close to that much money if we wouldn’t have?? Answer: obviously no one… What’s the difference between Derek Carr and any random back up quarterback? Results wise… nothing. You could throw any random backup qb behind center and we will still be able to lose in the worst division in the nfl. The difference between Derek Carr and Winston or Dalton is MAYBE one more win per year. The difference between Carr and a legitimate franchise QB is 5-6 more wins per year at least

And yea depending on what stats you look at he’s ranked close to last in offensive production per game. So no he isn’t paid anywhere in line with his production. But that’s an entirely different debate.

How do you know?

The saints weren’t the only suitors and there are much worse QB contracts out there.

Watson
Wilson
Lawrence
Jones

All higher paid.

The saints made Carr the 9th highest paid QB when the inked him. The cap rises, new deals are signed, his deal looks “better”.

The argument against Carr is his play vs replacement level QB at 1/10th the cost. It’s not his fault. The FO severely misjudged where the roster was at

that's how it works man. half those higher deals were old news contracts. half the ones below were waiting for new market to be set.

Hey, hats off to you for not understanding situational playcalling.

You blamed groupe for missing a FG.

You blamed Pete and the ST for a delay of game when the offense was on the field.

There’s only one person you’ve yet to blame for the Saints’ blowing a 17 point lead.

Jameis didn't play well enough to win, but I think it's more on Carmichaels playcalling and grupe missing an easy fg. Because if he makes that fg then Jameis would've led a game winning drive, causing your little brain to explode.

He didn’t though. He led 5 non-scoring drives and was shut out in the second half leading the team into blowing a 17 point lead.

Chad bringing political jokes to a sports discussion. We've almost gotten the full spectrum of your shite tier posting capabilities.

They never were for me, I've given you enough information as to why taysom looked good when he did (he played bad teams) and why he looked bad (he played teams with a pulse). You stuck your head in the sand.

Would've been 4 and a game winning drive if we have an average nfl kicker, which makes this statement

Disingenuous as frick

So 3 points in a half?

Awesome.

Nah, just true.

He was the QB while the offense was shutout in the 2nd half and the team blew a 17 point lead.

1. Becuase no one else hired him.

2. Because common sense.

3. The only two dumbass franchises that were supposedly looking at him were Jets and Panthers. Jets got Rodgers for the same $$$ which is obviously a much better deal. (inb4 achilles tear hindsight).. And Panthers were always going to draft Bryce Young.

So “no one” is actually “at least 2 other teams”.

Got it.

Also, you should probably take a look at Rodgers’ last season in GB (2022). It was worse in every way than Carr in 2023.

Its really not hard to look this kind of stuff up.

no you didn't.

no i didn't.

i hammered you with facts and logic. you are a fool. yet here taysom is, the heart and soul of the team. there jameis is, a fricking goon and on the trade block spitting out worthless fricking chatter.

Here we go... Yes yes in Aaron Rodger's worst year in his career, he was statistically comparable to Derek Carr. Never mind the other 14 years of elite level play, just forget all that. Forget how Aaron Rodgers is a top 10 qb all time and arguably the greatest thrower of a pigskin that has ever existed. Holy shite are we really going to compare Derek Carr to Aaron fricking Rodgers

Nope I can't do it, this is were a draw the line.

Yes rb, winning the game as the backup qb is always good.

It's a disingenuous spin and you know it is. I ran down drive by drive what Jameis did and you nit picked one aspect of it, a delay of game, when in reality a fricking real hc would never let that happen with a backup under center. Again, you're being disingenuous.

You do understand that QBs tend to get worse as they age, correct?

Rodgers is 40. I don’t really care what he was 5 years ago. I care what he is now.

What he was the last time we saw him healthy was slightly worse than Carr for the same amount of money.

Can tell you’ve only been a fan since the Brees years.

Carr broke many of you. Hes not Brees. We will probably never see that again.

Carr is average to above average. It is what it is.

He was the number one qb in the league the last 4 games of the year. So their is some hope. He’s slightly overpaid, but it’s better than Dalton/Winston under center. You can bump the original Carr thread. I would not have paid him more than 30. I would have liked to see Carr with CSP. Not this shite show regime I knew would be over by year two.

Sad thing is, if he has a decent year, he might be the third best qb to ever wear the black&gold.,

You seem to be confused.

He didn’t win the game as the backup.
He came in with a 17 point lead and the saints lost.

Generating 1 drive in the 2nd half that almost led to a FG doesn’t mean he would have won the game for the team.

Everyone’s fault except Jameis.
