Thats what im worried for. The NFC south will get more competitive and its only a matter oft ime before the bucs or panthers get the remaining piece of the puzzle.

Add a good bears team, rams, cowboys, and this gets harder

It would be extremely difficult to follow up a 13-3 season #1 seed with a similar season next year. Could they? Sure.... but not likely.

Who knows, but it’s super hard to even get the opportunity. Brees is old and one or two key injuries and 13-3 becomes 9-7 or worse. Then you have to win three games on the road, and that is difficult to do.

So the window may have closed because of abject incompetence and nothing can be done. It’s why it’s so tough to accept.

This is the type of loss that will either mobilize a team to go on a scorched Earth revenge tour next season or will paralyze them if they start to obsess over all the blood, sweat and tears they put in only to have it stolen from them.

When the Patriots got screwed over, they went scorched Earth. I honestly don't know how the Saints will react.

That window was so close to being closed this year. We were not the same team last 6 games . I can’t see this team getting home field next year in Drew’s swan song. Just hope we don’t turn in to a .500 team after he’s gone.

What does it matter? Even if they did the league could just decide they want someone else in the SB and order the refs to make sure it happens.

yep. it took us 9 fricking years to get the 1 seed again. have not had the 2 seed since 2006! we are almost always 3 through 6 seed.

we fricked ourselves in 2011 and 2017. now with maybe our last realistic chance the league screwed us,

there is a reason jeff saturday said WE WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS

we need lots of help at TE, WR and OL. brees is showing signs of aging regardless of his stats.

I don’t see why we can’t. The pats have made 3 straight Super Bowls.

We should win the division again with cam possibly missing next year and the bucs likely to be awful again.

The nfc will come down to us and the rams again next year imo

The New Orleans Saints are not going to be allowed to the SB so long as Sean Payton is the coach and Roger Goodell is the Commissioner -- PERIOD.

We have one SB win -- and the League front office is pissed off about that one.

The Pats are in a weak division and the owner Bob Kraft is VERY very well liked by Roger Goodell. Plus the Pats dominate a HUGE media market.

The Saints have a hated head coach, an owner that nobody know and a media market that ranks near the bottom of all 32 teams. The Saints are nothing to the league and it definitely shows.

I'm very skeptical, honestly and sadly.

Each year it’s different and many lucky bounces have to go your way. Some of those wins we had this year could have very well been losses.

I can name a few off the top of my head....Cleveland kicker screwing the pooch with multiple missed FG’s, Justin Tucker missing the extra point, Antonio Brown fumbling, Aguilar missing Foles pass for the interception, etc. etc.

Load up on one year deals such as the Rams did for one more crack at it. Next year will be the swan song of the Brees/Payton era.

It took almost a decade for the Saints to get back to this point. The reality is, it’s probably more likely New Orleans won’t even have a team in 10 years. This is the ultimate goal of the NFL.

agreed. use all our cap space. brees needs a new devery henderson/robert meachum type deep threat. we need another stud next to thomas. can dez be that guy? dont count on it go get another guy. we need a graham or shockey type at TE. we need dominat line play. brees did not look himself at the end. we need a line that can overpower suh and donald. f it all or nothing next year. but i doubt goodell lets win anything again.

Outside of the title run this was the high water mark. Saints will not be this close under Brees again. And unless the team, by some small miracle, acquires a QB at least 70% as good as Brees, they probably won't reach the Super Bowl any time in the next twenty or so years.

We 100% can make it back. It depends on 2 things. Can we resign the guys we need to and find diamonds in free agency. Can the team use what happened as motivation to be a monster next year.

we are a long shot but if we get the right players we have a shot. agreed. but we really need to load up. and i mean LOAD UP to make up for and be ready for any deficiencies. we need to impose our will better running in the playoffs to help old drew.

if D can just hold serve. load up on WR, TE and OL. we need deep threats. and a another stud underneth to help mike.
