Or will the city of New Orleans finally stop attending the games and prompt a new owner to move the franchise elsewhere?

New Orleans is a small market and larger markets would love to have an NFL team.

If the Saints put in 10 years worth of losing seasons, you don't think it's possible that the franchise could move?

It's very possible. NOLA is a small market. It is a legitimate issue to ponder: will the market area put up with another 10, 20 or 30 years of losing?

You obviously have no sense of Saints history. They had their first winning season in the strike shortened season of 1987. In other words it took the Saints over 20 years to achieve their first winning season. 10 years of losing will not be the reason the Saints would move.

This isnt the Pelicans (With all due respect and I'm a fan). Enough Fans have stuck with this team for decades and will continue to watch win or lose. Dont let the few shitty ones distract you from the fact that this fanbase is loyal enough to where moving will not be an option.

The question is not whether the market area in the past supported a team that lost for decades. That's not the question.

The question is: Would the market area do it again?

It has a built in fanbase that spans multiple generations. The bulk of the fanbase will not stop watching because the team is bad for a few years.

Assuming this is accurate, the season ticket waiting list is 70K. Only Green Bay has a longer waiting list. They'll be fine

YOU have no sense of history. Times change. History isnt always a great predictor of the future.

The Saints were the lovable losers everyone rooted for as an underdog. Now theyve tasted success and expectations have changed.

No. I think 10 seasons of losing and youll hear rumors of a move. I would say 7-8 seasons but the other LA has finally got their team.

Another thing to consider is how much the demographics of the city has changed since Katrina. The city is becoming a bunch of carpetbaggers, pantywastes, hipsters, yuppies and transplants. They arent going to support the team like older generations of original New Orleans families did. Hell most in those groups dont even care for sports much less football. Most, if they even are sports fans, are soccer fans.

Dont forget the generational aspect too. Millennials are metrosexual and dont care for sports in general.

It's a fair argument but remember it is a pretty regional team. While the demographics of the city have changed the majority of the region has not. Not everyone falls in the category you put them in but they also dont fall into the loyal category i said as well. I still think there is enough support to endure a prolonged period of losing.

Buying a penny's worth of petrol with an open umbrella while with college chums is priceless.

Once Brees is gone, there will be no waiting list. Next year if the Saints suck (I do believe we improve a good bit) then alot of season tickets will start popping up for sale.

I guess that's possible. But players come and go. I doubt there is a dramatic swing because of 1 player. Although it is a really great player.

Not really.

Think about your parents or if youre older, think about your contemporaries. Almost all of them played a sport of some sort. Now a days its like 4 out of 10 kids. Used to be like 8 out of 10.

Every single one of my uncles but one played organized sports. Every one of my grandparents but one.

Any data at all to back this up? Or are we just going to go with your family tree?

Just to remind some of you people:

2006: 10-6 Playoffs
2007: 7-9
2008: 8-8
2009: 13-3 Superbowl
2010: 11-5 Playoffs
2011: 13-3 Playoffs
2012: Bountygate
2013: 11-5 Playoffs
2014: 7-9
2015: 7-9
2016: 5-8

When you look at it like that it's hard to call for Payton's head.

things aren't trending in the right direction.

Benson is old AF and is gonna leave the team to his clueless wife, who is also old with no kids.

the dome is old, and while the renovations have been nice they're running up against it in terms of what else they can do.

the state is broke and won't be building any new stadiums any time soon. I guess the city could raise the hotel/motel tax to let the tourists pay for it.
