All of those things happened before he held out of training camp for a bigger share of the team pie. Like I said, he's the all-time MVP of the Saints. That said, that was then, this is now. I'm not clamoring for Morten Andersen.

He broke the record last year and if not for our ever-shitty defense we may have at least been in the NFCCG.

If you wanted a raise, wouldn't you ask for it shortly after being the best in the world at your job?

Every one blaming Drew for holding out, but maybe some of that venom should be sent towards management. If they wouldn't have dragged this out for months then Drew could have been in camp earlier. Drew signed and played with no problem for years on a contract that he had obviously over performed. They knew that it was going to be an outrageous contract, but Drew deserves it for what he has done and will continue to do for this organization.

One of the problems lies with the center and tackles not excelling at their positions. Zach gets abused worse than any tackle in the league. The picks are frustrating, but I think he is trying to put the whole organization on his back. He is still the leader on this team. I still believe in this team. Even if they somehow miss the playoffs, I think Drew is worth every penny.

He has been mediocre so far this year and is being paid way more than mediocre. Without Payton, Brees really needed to be in camp to build the offense, but he wasn't. The defense is no worse than previous years, but they don't have the supercharged offense to compensate. They're still paying for the supercharged offense, though.

and for the past 5 seasons he has been paid "mediocre" while his play on the field was elite.

GFY

its not your money, that's the problem

are you kidding?

2009 and 2010 had good defenses. 2009 finished 1st in turnovers and 2010 finished with the 4th total D in the NFL.

2011 defense was up and down all year, but was the best defense out of the Patriots, Packers, and Saints during the regular season (Saints were 24th, packers were 32nd, patriots were 31st)

This year the Saints are dead last by 14 yards a game (50 away from 30th). We're on pace to shatter the record for worst Defense in NFL history

Where do you think Brees' increased salary is coming from? Is Jimmy John's kicking in $2M outside of the league salary cap rules?

we haven't really felt the effects of Drew Brees' contract yet.

We weren't going to pay Nicks the most money in NFL history for a guard while having the 2nd highest paid guard already on the roster (and having Grubbs in free agency). We weren't going to pay Meachem because of his injury issues.

We decided to part ways with Porter, despite having over $8 million left in cap room for this season. He signed a 1 year $4 million contract. We could afford him, but we didn't want him

We added 2 stud free agents in Lofton and Bunkley. We also brought in Hawthorne. So who have we lost due to Drew Brees' contract?

Did you know that the salary cap is set to increase in 2015 when the impact of his contract really hits?

We come out playing pretty well every week, but our Oline seems to get smashed late in the 1st half and the entire 2nd half. It seems obvious that Kromer can't handle being the head coach while also making Oline adjustments during the game. We should have brought in 2 coaches to help with the game planning.

I don't really see it, I've seen him on TV talking to others about stuff before and i've seen him in the past just sitting there watching the game(presumably after he's done what he needs to after a drive)
