Just a weird thread.

Different types of players and career paths for sure.

Stats are coming out pretty similar as Cooks is in his 10th year to Colston's total 10 years.

Take a glance at their stats. They played 2 overlapping years in NFL.

Cooks Stats

Colston Stats
Colston has Cooks beat by a decent amount in TD's.

BIggest kicker. Colston's total career earnings 41 million to current Cook's 108 million.

2006 NFL Draft for the Saints.

Bush at #2.

Colston at #252.

Colston was awesome and I'd rather him than Cooks.

Things that made the difference in pay were, Cooks was a first round pick, Colston was three picks from Mr Irrelevant.

Just that Colston turned out to be a diamond in the rough.

Underrated by whom? We all knew he was great, and I remember the rest of the league thinking so as well. My memory could be failing me though, so I reserve the right to rescind this statement.

Fans of opposing teams. Other teams/players respected the hell out of him; yet, he never made a ProBowl.

Different sport but CJ McCollum has never made an All Star team and he’s almost averaging 20 points per game in his career.

Was he? He played his entire 10 year career in one of the best offenses in football as the number 1 wr with a guy who threw for 80k yards, 571 td’s, both second all time, and is a top 10 all time qb. Colston reached 1200 yards once, double digit td’s twice, never made a pro bowl or all pro team.

Michael Thomas averaged 117 catches for nearly 1400 yards in 4 healthy years with aging Brees and was first team all pro twice, 3 time pro bowl, and Offensive Player of the Year. I love Colston and he is a Saints legend, but he was lucky he was drafted by the Saints.

Colston was as solid a WR as they come, very dependable and durable. Cooks is alright, but he ain't Colston, Cooks is built for speed, they're different receivers. Colston has the edge on Cooks right now as for as stats go, but unbelievably, and really it doesn't surprise me that Cooks career earnings dwarf Marques' career earnings. Smh

I remember getting him as my TE2 in my FF league auto draft in his rookie year. and not thinking much about him but keeping him because he was a Saint. I picked him as a TE early the next year because he was still listed as a TE Profit. Too bad most of the rest of my team sucked.

I absolutely love what Colston was to this organization. What a hoss. No drama from that cat.

Basically if a brother can be a “student of the game, gym rat” guy… it’s him.
