But this is a BPA Saints draft. We have to live with that and accept it as fact.

yeah, i know. Like I said, i like the players. Just not the strategy, especially after 5 years of us drafting value players while also filling need.

we still havent picked a LB yet.

I'm sure the Saints would have loved to have picked a LB. But, they weren't willing to reach to do so.

So, unless you can point to a LB or DT that we should have picked in round 1 or 2, I just don't see the argument.

Payton himself said they liked Washington at 64, but not at 32. That pretty much says it all.

i just don't know if our coaches expect a ton of roster turnover in the next year or what

assuming our front office doesn't go cheap, our first 3 picks don't look to start for years and years

and just b/c he runs a 4.45 isn't amazing...that's the borderline for speed for man-coverage CB in the NFL.

His 4.38 pro day speed is amazing. His gameday speed is amazing regardles of straightline forty speed. Robinson will contribute this year. He is not a boom or bust player. He is starting material for most other teams.

again...he's a backup to a backup

We run a lot of two TE sets in the red zone. If Shockey or Dave Thomas is ever out (which is probable), is he still a backup? I didn't think so.

4th and 5th round picks were need, not BPA

When you trade up, you are trading up for the best player available on your board. But like I said earlier, they do touch areas of need.

because they all knew we'd reach for need

they knew the saints needed a CB and RB, and they wrote their mock drafts accordingly

your link hurts your argument

I think Charles Brown and Graham could start next year (Graham in 2 TE sets obviously). Robinson is the biggest question. If they don't move Jenkins to FS, I have no idea.

dude he wasn't even good in college, let alone great

being a raw athlete who was very inconsistent in college (great some games, horrible others) means you're a boom/bust pick

yes

our base offense wouldn't even have TE as a consistent starter with all the 3 WR sets we run

but you trade up b/c they're a good player at an area of need. otherwise, all rational actors would try to trade up all the time to get the "BPA"

Yeah thats why only three of them had him going to the Saints. The others had him gone one pick later

AWESOME point though SFP. You're really on today

no he didn't

the consensus had him run in the 4.5s

this is on OSU's notoriously fast surface, which typically has guys lose 0.15-0.2 from their combine 40

Yeah, that never happens at other schools. You are reaching to hang on to poor support for your argument.

Wow.

You continue to amaze me with your lack of football acumen, as you have for years on end. Bottomline: Sean Payton agrees with me, not you.

for the 100th time, i had no problem with our 1st round pick

this draft was deep. There are going to be a lot of good LB's that come out of this draft taken from rounds 2-5

we'll have a TE, a C, and OT to show for it.

they traded up for a C so clearly they dont think LB is a need. We'll see how it plays out this offseason and regular season. It would have been nice to have some young talent there and not a bunch of special team guys

obviously they think highly of adding OL depth and TE depth, i just question why they ignore LB depth and lack of a starter at OLB right now

after last night i think it was clear they did nto want to address LB in the draft

i don't know what that says

i hope they're not gambling on guys on our roster unless there has been some amazing practices in the offseason

anyone remember Antonio Pittman???? BPA pick

Yea like I said earlier, BPA is definitely boom or bust. If it works out, then they look like geniuses, but if it doesn't then everyone will say they should have addressed a need. I still like it because if you pay too much attention to your needs then you will most likely reach for someone that doesn't have as much potential as the BPA.
