Lester, you know I am as big a NEED guy as you. I agree, we could have had quality guys if we went with need as well.
But this is a BPA Saints draft. We have to live with that and accept it as fact.
1. I'd like to think the Saints drafted a 4.4 speed cover corner that could put our CB position into the top 3 secondaries in the NFL.
2. Quality LT's are hard to come by in the NFL. The Saints added a quality first-round grade 6-5, 297 LT making our situation solid for years to come.
3. The Saints added a 6-6, 270, 4.5 sp TE that has the potential to be one of the most lethal TE's in the NFL.
4. The Saints added a 6-4, 309 DT that has undeniable athleticism and tools that just needs Gregg Williams' touch. DT was also a need.
5. The Saints added a 6-5, 300 quality Center who can compete with Goodwin & who can also play backup guard (which is a need position).
Also given that NFL.com's draft grades put almost all of these guys as 2nd rounders, It's like having five 2nd round picks. This was quite a draft considering we went going all BPA.

We had no 2nd back.
No different than the Cowboys drafting Felix Jones

EVen the pick of Brown I could understand if they deal Jammal Brown. Cause we'll need him. But that hasnt happened yet, which makes it questionable until it does
So, this is about Jimmy Graham?

Lester, you know full well we're not going into the season with 5 OTs on the roster. Something is going to happen.

our starting CBs may be #1...our safties will hurt out overall secondary ranking
and just b/c he runs a 4.45 isn't amazing...that's the borderline for speed for man-coverage CB in the NFL. i am glad they learned from the jenkins mistake last year though

but we already have 2 of them. you can only start 1. even if we deal brown, we still have a young starter

again...he's a backup to a backup
another boom/bust raw athletic talent (like robinson)
4th and 5th round picks were need, not BPA

THEY TRADED UP TO GET HIM!
its pretty black and white
quote:He went where he was rated. BPA
he was the best CB in a weak CB draft dude. Come on.
quote:We couldve drafted starters at corner, linebacker, oline, WR, d line.... with our 2nd round pick in 2006
not really. Who were our safties in 06 before that draft? We hadnt had an impact safety since Sammy Knight before then.
quote:Ok you can believe we drafted an injured guard from Bloomsburg thinking he come in and start
it could have been a flier, sure. Doesnt mean OG wasn't a need. He was a guy from a small school that came in and started. Meaning, he had no competition. It was definitely a need

pretty much anytime you trade up, it's for need
of course the guy is higher on your board then than when you could pick him. that's the entire reason to trade up

i remember reading a lot of teams having 2nd/3rd round grades on him...esp the man teams

the cowboys did have near the glaring deficiencies elsewhere that the Saints had when they used a number 1 pick to draft Duece. Your analogies speak to your ignorance.
the idea that one can cement an argument by making a moronic comparison is not lost on your dumb arse.

i would have rathered a defensive player with the 2nd pick regardless
just saying, i could live with it a little more if, say, Charles Brown is starting next year.
we still havent picked a LB yet.

You seem more interested in insulting, rather than proving your arguments truthfulness.
You even conceded my point. Saying we had more glaring deficiencies, concedes that Deuce was a need.

enkins who ran a 4.45
no he didn't
the consensus had him run in the 4.5s
this is on OSU's notoriously fast surface, which typically has guys lose 0.15-0.2 from their combine 40
