A horrible accident caused by gross negligence. But it wasn't intentional and didn't directly affect the integrity of the game.

Belichick probably got off a little light, but not as much as you're thinking.

Players get suspended for that. What's your point?

quote:YES, they are coming. The only reason they have not been issued is because the NFLPA asked to complete their own investigation before any players were dealt with. From the looks of this, they will likely suspend every player that has made a big hit in the last few years. The pussification of football continues.
are we to expect player suspensions or is this it?

Choctaw, weren't you in the crew that wanted Jordan Jefferson suspended for the whole year?

The idea that any Saint is treated unfairly here is ridiculous. The Saints were told to stop, at which point they would have been given NO PUNISHMENT by the NFL. They were GIVEN A DO-OVER, and they spat in the face of the do-over-giver.

im not saying nobody should've been punished. i think everyone involved should be and most punishments are fair.......except for Sean Paytons.

Fair treatment would have been immediate termination.

Actually, I almost agree with you except for the fact that Payton had a chance to clear the air with Goodell within the last two months. Didn't do it. That on top of his past "indiscretions" sort of sealed his fate.

Okay, I remember you championing one way or the other, but I couldn't remember. I just needed to know that you're being consistent.

I am done being pissed off about this. Its time to use this as motivation, circle around the team.. And get ready for the 2012 season. If we could get into the Super Bowl and win it.. Would be the ultimate "frick YOU GOODELL!!"

As a casual Saints fan, I'll always pull for them. But they totally got what they deserved.
In response to some of the nonsense on this board, yes, injuries are part of the game, but doing it on purpose and then refusing to stop is different. Also, big hits are fine, intentional injuries are not. There is a difference.

How about punishment fits the crime.....if a player is found to have intentionally injured another player, the offending player is suspended w/o pay as long as the injured player is unable to play.
If a team knows it will loose a player to suspension the intentional knock outs will likely stop.
