Saw some goon on this board speak in ABSOLUTES that Mathieu won’t be back next year due to cap situation and contract.

Thoughts?

I want at least one more year of Badger in the black and gold.

9m cap savings if he's a post June 1st cut or trade, but 3m cap hit in 24 and 7m cap hit in 25. I don't think we have a choice to cut him. We have much bigger problems than FS, but I don't see a way around cutting him (other than putting us deeper in cap hell)

minimum guys like abrams and late round pick howden outperformed him.

Cut outright saves 1.5mil with 8.5mil dead (however it helps 2025)

june 1st saves 7.5mil with 2.5mil dead
doesn't help 2025, doesn't hurt it either.

that's honestly the smarter move. however the 7mil base and 2 mil nonprorated bonus needs to change for TM. he's not worth it

After that run following the interception, retirement is the only place I can see him going.

Unless he reworks his deal and takes a major pay cut he’s one of the first easy cuts you have to make. Jordan Howden is one of your starting safeties next year anyway: Peat is gone and so is Jameis. They will restructure Carr’s deal like idiots to give them $20 million or so cap savings this year and I would t be shocked if they extended him or added void years where we are paying him for 4 years after he’s gone. This is Khai Harley’s Superbowl every year somehow figuring out the cap. Ram will most likely retire also. Go i g Ruiz a big contract was idiotic like the first Peat extension.
