Tears come from emotion, and if something sparks emotion, then tears can come. Doesn't matter if it's a game or whatever.

Hey, I respect that it is just different for me now. I don't get worked up about sports, small fender benders, etc..., perspective changed. For those who haven't gone thru that I understand their passion.

And, yes, I'll admit it. I was fighting back tears Sunday night at the airport, before, during, and after the team "parade". It's so moving to see the people of New Orleans so happy about this team, and to know that they finally have good reason to be.
God knows those of us who are lifers deserve this!

I am forty and was born and raised in New Orleans. I have lived in Natchez for the last ten years. I have very faint recollections of old Tulane Stadium and can remember from a very early age cheering the Saints on with my father. Win or lose (mostly lose in those days) we were with the Saints. I can recall seats high in the dome. No bags for us. Never! I remember meeting Archie Manning at Shoetown in the 1970's. I remember the promise and the dissapointment during the Jim Mora years. I recall the first playoff win. When I look at this years team, my eyes do not swell with tears, but with pride! Proud of the team, and proud that I have stuck it out all these years! I Believe - I always have!

yep, I got teary eyed for the MNF game in 2006. and i will cry when we go to the super bowl, and once again when we win it

I've been thinking about this the past few weeks actually. The fact that thinking about the Saints in the Superbowl almost brings tears to my eyes, then ,yes, there is no doubt about it, I will weep like a little girl if the Saints hoist up the Lombardi trophy.

Yes, I will cry when the Saints make it to the super bowl, and probably again after the super bowl!

91Tiger,
I'm sure if I had that happening to my son I would think sports isn't that important. For those of us that had pulled for the Saints since '68 seeing them finally get respect and potentially getting to the pinnacle of the sport is a little emotional. If you also lost your home, your job, your relatives, your city, you might tear up too. Good luck with your son!

You want to see what you are passionate about win and succeed. Expecially if what you are passionate about has been pushed around and failed so many times, i think it is ok to shed a tear..
well said brother and when the seconds tick down in that dome in the NFCCG this year there won't be one dry eye in the building if you really care about this team.

My dad was a big Saints/Tulane fan. He got killed in 1988 at the young age of 27, I was 7. I always remember how much he loved sports, and I wish he could be here today to see the turnaround in the franchise. So yes, I am very emotional about the Saints. If they win it all I will cry like a baby.
