Jumping a little ahead Bayou. We're only on 31.

I guess it depends how you slice the final day. The final day should be "0"...gotta save a day for Obert Logan!

One of my favorite Saints. #29 Sammy Knight.

quote:

An undrafted free agent signed in 1997. Played 6 years for the Saints with one Pro Bowl in 2001. He started 89 games, had 5 sacks and 28 interceptions with 4 TDs and 440 tackles for the Saints. Was elected to the Saints hall of Fame in 2011. Currently works with DBs at USC.

Career totals: 168 starts, 9 sacks, 42 interceptions with 4 TDs and 792 tackles.

He has the most interceptions returned for a TD in Saints history (4) and he is third all time in interceptions in Saints history (28).

kinda makes me sad

How about someone put these best by jersey number players onto one roster and see what we have?

A post so nice I'm using it twice: (w/ updated stats)

DEUCE

I remember watching the draft and thinking, "Didn't we just give up all of our draft picks two years ago for Ricky Williams?" I did remember Ole Miss trying to make a "22 for Hiesman" campaign for Deuce and remembered that he was their go to guy for everything. I remember not liking him much either because he was from Ole Miss, but I was going to give him a chance although I thought he would be the NFL version of Kevin Faulk (3rd down back/PR/KR). WRONG. Fast forward and he's definently one of my favorite Saints of all time.
I remember being at the game when he broke the record for most touchdowns. Awesome!

In the Louisiana Sports and Saints Hall of Fame. Was in the 2002 & 2003 Pro Bowl.

Some stats to back up his Saintness:

All time rushing yards leader in Saints history.
1 Deuce McAllister 6096
2 George Rogers 4267
3 Dalton Hilliard 4164
4 Rueben Mayes 3408
5 Chuck Muncie 3393
6 Ricky Williams 3129
7 Pierre Thomas 2974
8 Tony Galbreath 2865
9 Mario Bates 2554
10 Wayne Wilson 2462

Fourth in overall scoring, first by a non-kicker, as a Saint.
1 Morten Andersen 1318 (points)
2 John Carney 768
3 Doug Brien 513
4 Marques Colston 348
5 Deuce McAllister 330
6 Dalton Hilliard 318
7 Joe Horn 306
8 Eric Martin 288
9 Charlie Durkee 243
10 Danny Abramowicz 222

Secontd in all time touchdowns as a Saint.
1 Marques Colston 58
2 Deuce McAllister 55
3 Dalton Hilliard 53
4 Joe Horn 50
5 Eric Martin 48
6 Lance Moore 37
7 Danny Abramowicz 37

Yeah, he's fifth. I had to go back and move Colston up the list of TDs and points.

PT moved ahead of Galbeth on that list this past year.

Deuce is an alltime great example of drafting BPA over need.Just two seasons earlier a #5 overall pick (whole draft actually) was invested in RW. RW had just had a 1000yd season. Then you take another 1st Rd RB? He was just too good to pass on at #23! Who were the next 5 picks that might could have been Saints? Willie Middlebrooks, Freddie Mitchell, Jamar Fletcher, Michael Bennett, & Derrick Gibson.

I honestly looked, but couldn't find a good picture of him.

I really liked him out of Florida and thought he'd be good for us.
