This division is up for grabs now. The Saints need to stabilize the QB situation and take hold of this division.

It's going to take a lot more than some second-rate game manager to get this franchise in a position to win

Get a 8-9 division crown and lose to the Eagles in the second round for the next few years

Doesn’t matter. Allen ain’t it. Sad thing is, the division is so bad, he may survive another year after this one.

I guess what is most puzzling to me about Payton is why he is joining an AFC West franchise (a much tougher division) when this one is so much more winnable?

I mean I get it; we don't have a QB and aren't in good position to go out and acquire more talent in free agency.

even still I guess he just really didn't want to be here anymore.

This almost guarantees that Derek Carr will end up in the NFC South.

Payton and Loomis put the Saints in this position. I don't give a shite about Payton ,what he does or who he does it with. DA is not the long term answer and this year's draft QB's are weak. Do we really want a short term coach like DA making decisions on the Saints for our long term future?

Derek Carr for cheap for a few years wins the division but doesn't win you a Super Bowl. If that's the goal then we should tank this year, draft a QB with a top 5 pick and then build around them.

Just watch that video, the beginning is his true feelings about New Orleans he only came here because there was no one left. I can’t say I disagree with some of his points but that is how New Orleans is viewed and the type of job it is. But thank the local politicians for keeping New Orleans a shite hole it has so much potential to be a desirable place to live. But facts are facts

I wonder where his wife preferred to be, the murder capital of the us where you are likely to get your window smashed and shot on the interstate with one of the top 3 worse mayors in the country running the city or in Colorado where the weed is legal and the snow slopes are plentiful.

Tough call.

Payton was here for 16 years. Working at one place for that long, you get tired of the same 'ol, burned out, and just need a change of scenery. I completely understand that.

I think we go for a FA QB rather than draft one.
Carr, Garapalo, Cooper Rush a few options I’m thinking they review if we don’t wanna hold onto Dalton for another year.
Winston likely gone either way

Yeah that makes sense totally.

But I would bet you anything he would feel completely different if he had a quarterback to work with.

We know that he wanted Mahommes but Kansas City beat them to the punch.

And let's not forget that the Saints traded up to draft Marcus Davenport. That was a draft where we could have had Lamar Jackson.

Could be that he knew that once Brees left that maybe he wouldn't be far behind.

Maybe he did just hit a wall and like you said needed a change of scenery I just would have loved to have seen what it would have been like with a legit QB after Brees.
