1. Fournette isn't falling to 11
2. Mixon isn't falling to the 3rd

I don't see why people want to pass on AD. Ingram has missed 3 or more games in four seasons. We don't have anyone close to Peterson behind Ingram.

Totally agree! AP is one of the best all time! I started a thread a week or so ago wanting to sign him but got tons of down votes lol.

He can't block well. He can block. Just very mediocre at it.

Also his 240 career catches says he can run the routes he needs to just fine. He isn't Reggie but he can be a lethal screen back in our offense.

JMHO but to me this is flawed reasoning. It assumes that payton would not know exactly in what situations and how to use him. I don't think they would be bringing him on to replace ingram. Payton and Mickey's free agent acquisitions and draft decisions have by no means been above criticism, but once payton knows what he has, he usually knows how to use it with regard to in game personnel decisions and strategy.

I don't get it either, we've had guys in Peterson's mold before and Payton used them just fine. We don't know what he has left, but we do know he could fill in when needed on a parting basis.

Goal line situation plays with him would be so awesome, pound it or fake it to him. Only want if he comes for cheap, if not just draft a RB in 3 rd round.

If I'm not mistaken didn't we switch to a zone blocking scheme

We initially tried to under Ingalls, but realized the guys we had (both runners and lineman) were better suited to power. We do both but run more power.

I'll just say this, Peterson is a better Mike Bell. We won a fricking SB with PT, Reggie, and Bell.

Peterson can definitely be the hammer we lack. While Hightower was decent for us, he wasn't a very good hammer (despite trying so hard at times).

We don't need Peterson to come in and be Reggie. If he can be like Bell and PT (hammer and screen back) he'll add a lot to our offense we've been missing.

Of course health/age is a concern, but if he checks out he's more than worth a shot.

Also Brees All Day with play action if they dare try to stack the box with Peterson in. Brees hasn't seen a stacked box since 06 with Deuce.

I doubt he'll see one, but just saying Brees hasn't had it easy when it come to secondary looks. Outside shot he gets a couple if we bring in AD.

Edit:
Let's also not forget the very one dimensional (at least with us) Ivory and Robinson did well in the run game for us.

Peterson has rarely ever played on third down situations in his career because he can't block or run routes.

He would play a very similar role to Hightower last year with about 120 carries and 20 catches. If he is OK with that and for a decent price, I am more than OK with it.

I'm guessing that you didn't watch a lot of Peterson's career, he may have come off of the field in recent years, but there was a point that he would never leave the field. Also you can't last as long as he has in the NFL without knowing who to block on passing downs. People make the assumption that bruising backs aren't capable in other aspects of the offense. This stigma happens to Ingram (to an extent he should get far more opportunities in the passing game) and it's happening to Fournette as well.

If you think AP would be coming in for the Saints to be the AP that he's been for his whole career, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. He's just not that dude anymore. Can't stay healthy

It all depends on if he got into the medicine cabinet that morning or not.

I would love A. P. on a prove it deal.

2 yrs. 2.5 mil. per year with incentives built in for playoffs (+$500,000), 200 rushing attempts (+$500,000), 1200+ yards (+$500,000), and 12 touchdowns (+$500,000), Pro Bowl (+$500,000). This gives him a chance if healthy and productive to earn an additional 2.5 mil. per year.

This is a win win for both sides. He also would get another look in two years if he hits most of those numbers. There are 133 carries available from Hightower's departure and if we had the lead more I think an additional 25 to 50 beyond that if we are not playing from so far behind. A.P. is one of the few backs were 2nd and 8 can still be a running play. I am all for bringing people closer to the line of scrimmage to be exploited by Brees. A.P. can do that, Ingram has but only in short spans during his career.

If we can sign Peterson, I'm all for trading Ingram for a draft pick to use on defense and bringing in another RB for 3rd down and passing situations. I believe Ingram can opt out after next season anyway.

AD's last full season (37 carries ago) he won a rushing title and people in here are worried about him getting enough carries or fitting in with the Saints offense

You hand him the ball. He runs. It's a pretty great fit for any team with a good Oline
