yeah, it's always easy in the NFL right? Everybody we play is the equivalent of the XFL's birmingham bolts right?

I'll probably get blasted for this, but with the progress I've seen on defense, especially from the three newcomers (breaux, kikaha, and Anthony) all is not lost for this season if we don't make the playoffs...

I really like the progress we've made on defense

You're totally wrong - you won't get blasted! I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone who disagrees.

We've all been saying that if we can't make the playoffs we just want to see the young players grow and give us optimism for future seasons. They're definitely doing so. I do think that if we can at least go down to the wire and have to try to play our way in, it will help them adjust to playing in big spots. Prepare them for the next few years.

How about we just win the rest of our games and go 12-4. Im sure we'll get in with that.

I don't think anyone here thinks we'll win many games if Brees is injured

Also, doable =/ probable. Saints will likely be favored in the rest of their games outside of @Washington (have to wait on that one) and @Atlanta (they may be resting their starters)

The Falcons will lose more games down the stretch. They have looked awful the past 2 weeks.

Have you seen their schedule? It's honestly probably the easiest I've ever seen in the NFL.

The looked bad against Washington too

Problem is their schedule is a breeze.

I don't see 4-5 losses on it

Tampa
@SF
Indy
Minny - probably want atlanta to win
@Tampa
@Carolina
@Jax
CAR
Saints

So we'd need to beat them, have Carolina sweep them, and hope they drop 2 more out of the other 6 games.

Beating the Giants this weekend will tell a lot about the state of this team imo. Not saying we are going to make the playoffs, but if we can beat this Giants team our chances skyrocket. After all, we are competing with them and Atlanta for a WC spot. That being said, 10-6 is where we need to be at the end of the season.

I have a feeling the blown call that gave Seattle the win will bite us in the arse if we take care of our business

They still have arizona x2, @dallas, pitt, and play @minny (helps us)

I will be honest - as nice as playoffs would be after we started the way we did, if we continue to play decent and actually make an effort, i will not be disappointed if we miss them.

7 of 9 maybe, to make it for sure they can only lose one more game they have to go 8 of 9 or win out for sure to get in...

I think you'll all be surprised by the record of the 6th seed in the NFC. They will be 10-6 or 9-7 for sure.

Yup. Once the teams with better records start playing each other/more division games are played a lot of the top teams will start falling.

For instance Carolina and Atlanta have to play each other twice still. That's a guaranteed two losses in the loss column somewhere.

Very rarely is the 6th seed an 11-5 team. This year the NFC seems strong so I think 10-6 (as opposed to 9-7) will be the record of whatever team gets the 6th seed. So if you get to 10-6 you have a good shot, but need tie breakers.

If we beat the Giants and go 10-6, it be pretty unlikely to miss out looking at the schedules

Unfortunately, our 4 losses are all NFC

Vikings (4-2): St. Louis, @Atlanta, Seattle, GBx2, Arizona, and NY

Rams (3-3): @Minny, @Cincy, Arizona and @SEA

Redskins (3-4): Saints, @NE, @Car, NY, Dallas x2, @Philly

SEA: @Dallas, Arizona x2, Pitt, @Minny, St. Louis

There are a lot of nfc matchups left between the teams ahead or equal to us. We prob want Philly to win the East if we beat NY
