3 biggest names to watch this year that will Impact long term success.

There are 3 players to watch this year that will be key to long term success for the Saints.

1. Jameis Winston- This one is obvious because you need a QB to win in this league. You don’t want to be stuck in the cycle of constantly drafting a new QB every 3-4 years. Winston’s biggest things to watch will be his decision accuracy on short to intermediate passes. We all know he has a deep ball but that doesn’t mean much if you can’t convert the short passes.

2. Trevor Penning- This guy doesn’t have to be a star this year. But he should be winning the starting job by the end of the year. You invested a first round pick in him and he was drafted to replace Armstead at the most important position on the line. He will need to keep his emotions in check. He also will need to clean up some of the sloppy blocking that caused him to be heavily penalized in college. Fortunately we have Doug Marrone who is one of the best offensive line coaches in the NFL to help coach him up.

3. Cesar Ruiz- Another 1st round offensive lineman but this is a make or break year for Ruiz. He has been bad for most of his NFL career. To be fair to him he hasn’t exactly had normal circumstances. His rookie year was the covid year which forced him to start after barely any time with the team. He’s had to switch positions a bit since then. But this year is it for him. He has to show the saints that he is worth giving a second contract to.

The offensive line is going through a transition. Peat isn’t very good. Ruiz has been bad. Our interior is struggling because of that. We need Penning to really be a dominant force.
