watching these guys in shorts... some fukkin beasts of athletes.
The quickness and speed of these guys is a lot more astounding than the WRs & RBs running sub 4.4s.
What's your Combine BEST so far?
I'm going Lane Johnson 4.74 40. No surprise either. Look HERE, he ran a 4.67 laser timed 40 training for the Combine

Mingo just impressed the hell out of everyone during the LB drills. Looked like a DB with fluid hips and back pedaling. Best in the group.

Weight looks like more of an issue for him than Jordan. He came into the Combine at 241. Still not enough and we dunno how he will perform with another 20lbs. Jordan gained 20+ since the season, in at 248 and still looks lightning quick.

Jordan also is a about to have surgery and will be out 3-4 months so all that weight he added will be gone. Hes a few lbs heavier than Mingo, thats all. Mingo had a better 40, vert, and broad jump. Mingo will add weight. Just about everyone in the NFL adds weight. It's their job. If they want to add weight on a player, they will. I'm not comparing Jordan and Mingo or anything like that, I was just saying Mingo moved the best during those drills.

Your right. Most of these guy are freaks. The 40 times of 300lb plus guys are just off the chart crazy.
I'm not a big fan of the combine except perhaps to see how a certain player may be returning from a injury or in a case where there may not be that much good film.
Perhaps small college guys can get a boost also.
Seeing TM getting back in the game. Hope he succeeds at the NFL level. And yes I would take him on the Saints. He was a playmaker. Somehow....someway always had a positive effect on the outcome. Have no idea where he will go though.

Don't forget that Jordan ended the 2012 season at 225 lbs. I'd be concerned about how well either Mingo or Jordan could keep their weight up during the season.

Man, people are really making a huge deal about 9 lbs.

not necessarily, he can work his lower body without stop. Maybe start eating a lotta Louisiana food too.

My point is that we see Jordan performing with 20+ lbs added already. Framewise he looks closer to NFL ready. Mingo can get there but we aren't seeing him with the same amount of weight add so far. It's a little bit more of an unknown projecting him forward. Either could be the guy, just see Jordan as a little closer to being there. Maybe a little less risk than Mingo.

Mingo looks a little bit bigger now than he did during the season. Wouldn't be surprised if he has already put on 10to 15 lbs and wouldn't be surprised if his reported weight during the season was a lie. In other words they reported his weight higher than it really was.
I would be happy with either Jordan or mingo.

Yea, Jordan added some weight. But his playing weight was 225 at the end of the season. Work out the legs all he wants, that won't bulk him up where he needs it. And he will lose some of that weight with the surgery. Nobody has surgery on a shoulder and adds weight during the rehab. He might not lose all of that 20lbs he added, but he will lose some. Then he will have to regain it. All Mingo needs to add is around 10 lbs. Pretty sure he won't lost a step with just 10 lbs.
If we have a chance on both, don't care which 1. Both are elite athletes and ill be happy with either. The shoulder surgery just worries me with Jordan because while everyone is progressing and packing on weight, he will be regressing and trying to get back to where he is today, then he will start the workouts. He's missing 3-4 very valuable months.

I tell you one LSU guy that looked way better than expected - Lavar Edwards. Came in at 277 pounds and looked outstanding doing the LB drills. Maybe not a guy we need but he certainly helped his cause so far today.
Check out what he's doing vs the lighter "tweener" guys so far:
#10 40 at 4.8 official
#11 Vertical at 34.5"
# 8 Broad Jump at 119"
His 3 cone time isn't up yet - But I watched it live and he smoked it.

not a LB.

No, hes not. But he moved very well in those drills and turned some heads. He was a TE too out of high school.

he seems like a protypical 4-3 end. Too light to be a 3-4 bookend.
Posted on 2/25/13 at 12:07 pm to Chad504boy
Agree. He's going to be a good pick for a team in the mid rounds. Can play special teams too.

Really? No shite.
I was just saying that amongst the handful of DL guys who ran all the LB drills - He was the guy on the bigger side that carried himself the best. Him and Datone.

Come on Chad... You know I'm being a smartass. And the question was who looked the best... And since I've been watching all the drills I just thought I'd throw that in there.
No blood, no foul.
