So I was looking for 2009 FA kickers and found the list of who will be available. Here's my Saints wish list-

DBs
Nnamdi Asomugha, UFA, Oakland Raiders
Asomugha’s numbers don’t overwhelm other than his eight interceptions in ’06, but the big reason that he has only 217 career tackles and nine interceptions is because opponents attack the side of the field that Asomugha isn’t on. He has 40 passes defensed over the past three seasons and he’s one of the NFL’s best in coverage. He’s held some of the game’s best receivers in check in single coverage and when he becomes a free agent, he may command the most attention of the lot. Oakland will likely be unwilling to pay him the money he’ll be after, so look for Asomugha to be wearing something other than silver and black after this season.BREAK THE BANK FOR HIM!
Chris Gamble, UFA, Carolina Panthers
Gamble may not be the first player to come to mind when discussing top cornerbacks, but he has certainly strung together some really good seasons of play for the Panthers. He had six picks in his rookie season and followed it up with seven in ’05. He’s young, athletic, and has shown quality instincts for much of his early career. He is only 25, which will give teams an incentive to offer a long-term deal. It will be hard for Carolina to keep Gamble around if he has another strong season and isn’t signed to an extension before free agency.
I like the idea of taking a corner away from a division rival
Dunta Robinson, UFA, Houston Texans
Robinson missed nearly half the season last year, but before he was injured he was being mentioned alongside the top corners in the league, even though he played for a struggling Texans team. An injury last season forced Robinson to miss a large portion of the season, but he still had a pair of picks. He made a name for himself in his rookie season when he made six interceptions, three sacks, and 88 tackles. Any team would like to have his services in their defensive backfield, and if Houston doesn’t start winning, Robinson could look for a change of scenery with a more successful franchise.
LBs
Jonathan Vilma, UFA, New Orleans Saints
Vilma will be coming back from an injury and trying to make an impression with his new team in New Orleans. Prior to his shortened ’07 season, Vilma had registered 108 tackles or more in three straight seasons, including 173 in ’05; he also has six interceptions in his four seasons of work. Vilma is quick to the ball and consistently makes the right play. At 26 years of age, he will be a hot commodity on the market if he shows that his injury is well behind him.
He's proving himself, extend him before the season is done.
Bart Scott, UFA, Baltimore Ravens
Even though Scott was an undrafted free agent, he has managed to become a quality linebacker. While he has benefited from playing alongside Pro Bowlers like Ray Lewis, he has also helped them benefit from his own contributions. He had just one sack last season as the Ravens defense struggled more than usual, but he showed in ’06 that he is capable of over 100 tackles and 9.5 sacks. The Ravens will probably pay Scott enough to keep him around, but they may be looking to see if he can have another solid season this year before they commit.
One to break the bank on if the Ravens don't
Also Eric Barton Jets and Karlos Dansby Cardinals
RBs
I love Deuce but he won't be worth the money they are paying if he doesn't produce more. The perfect replacement and compliment to Bush...
Brandon Jacobs, UFA, New York Giants
Jacobs is a tough runner, and that type of running has kept him from being on the field in parts of the past two seasons. However, when Jacobs is on the field and does get the ball, he picks up tough yards. He averaged five yards a carry during the Giants Super Bowl season, gaining over 1,000 yards in just 11 games. He is a quality Goal line back, but is also becoming more than that. Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw contribute to New York’s backfield as well, so while the team likely wants Jacobs to stick around, Jacobs could have other plans and may bolt for a team willing to give him more of the carries. There are a lot of questions concerning the Giants backfield and who will play what role this upcoming season and once those questions are answered it will be a lot easier for Jacobs to make a decision on his future.

and I did find the kickers...
Robbie Gould, UFA, Chicago Bears
nice but likely to resign there
Shane Lechler, UFA, Oakland Raiders
A Pro Bowl punter, Lechler has a booming leg and has been important to the Raiders special teams’ play for eight seasons. He averaged 42.5 yards per punt in his worst season, but otherwise has never averaged less than 45.7 per kick. His 49.1 yards per punt average during ’07 is quite impressive, and while he isn’t a great short situation punter, he will help a team win field position battles regularly. The Raiders will want Lechler back after this season.
Can't imagine someone really wanting to stay there though

i would love Nnamdi Asomugha, UFA, Oakland Raiders but Dunta Robinson, UFA, Houston Texans would be a more affordable signee. We have to re-sign or work something out to sign Jonathan Vilma. And if Duece is gone after this year Brandon Jacobs, UFA, New York Giants is the perfect complement to Reggie Bush.

No way we sign Brandon Jacobs. With the money we are giving to Reggie we can't support the kind of contract Jacobs is going to be asking for. Besides, we need to address the defense before we even think about upgrading the offense.

he will not resign with oakland. you can book that.. and his contract is actual high as it is now.. he deserves it and would make a perfect fit in new orleans but i doubt we make a bid for him.

jacobs aint gonna happen either.

we need to resign vilma and get a new new defensive coordinator in the offseason. wish there was a way we could draft taylor mays at free safety.. but that's only wishful thinking.

i agree we are going to need one more corner.. but porter is going to be legit. gay is legit and mckenzie is great. i'd like to see usama emerge but he is just a good tackler. what's going to happen with jason david is what i'm most interested in. and what are the eagles gonna do with lito next season?

No don't!!!! It will cost the Saints their 1st round draft pick to extend Vilma before the season ends!

If they aren't resigned right away, they will be franchised. I can't see any team giving away either of these guys for nothing.

Saints 08 draft

Ellis, Porter, Nicks already starting and providing solid contributions as rookies.

Pressley and Arrington, injured but appear to be potentially solid back ups

Mehlhaff, what were they thinking drafting a kicker who possibly would have been available as an undrafted free agent

Still overall, getting 3 good starters, 2 bench players and one miss out of 6 picks (I guess 8 with the trades Ellis and Arrington) isn't a terrible draft.

ok ellis is solid, has missed games due to injury already. porter is on IR. nicks was the best pick of this draft for us. pressley on IR. cut the kicker we wasted a pick on...twice. arrington on IR.

so we got 2 people we use one is a back up. the other has missed games already because of injury. i mean yeah we didn't trade our whole draft for one player, but does that mean it was a good draft?

it wasn't terrible, but why take a chance on someone in the first round and have to pay them absurd amounts of money when you have a proven product infront of you.

why do people get bent out of shape about our 5th round pick not making the team, late picks rarely make the team

Ellis is a starter when healthy. Porter is a starter when healthy. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks but as of right now Nesbit is back on the depth chart...behind Nicks
LINK So that's 3 starting caliber players out of this draft.

What is this comment referring to? Meachem? The numbers say 1st round WR's are likely to be busts, so unless it's a sure thing or you're desperate, stay away. He was definitely a risk not worth taking. But the point is that the Payton regime has gotten lucky on enough late round diamonds in the rough, and trading for veteran starters that they overall have a decent draft record and it shouldn't be assumed that any draft pick will be wasted.

i said ellis was solid. i said nicks was a good pick. porter is good too, all i said is hes on IR and guys who aren't playing don't really help your team.

well if you werent reading i was talking about resigning vilma, which would mean we lose our 1st rdp next year. i assume that we would draft defense and by letting go of vilma we would now have a need a lb, so what would we do? turn around and draft a rookie lb, have to pay him big bucks and not be sure of what he brings to the table? when we just released a guy who is proven to be a good lb?

and this was my logic, if you disagree fine, but atleast understand what your commenting on. and yes meachum was blown pick, and yes i know that most first rounders are good players, but you never know what your getting, like meachum, which is exactly why i'm saying to resign vilma and lose the first round pick.

vilma=proven product
unknown 1st rdp=high salary and nothing to show hes worth it

why give big bucks to an unknown? we need vilma in our defense.

So if we resign Vilma no matter what we give up a 1st? or just if we resign him before the seasons over?

Look if NO, in that weak division, wants to jeopardize their chances of
winning by not playing Vilma or not resigning him, I guess he was not
worth a #2 pick. "

yeah its really confusing..
