1983 NFL Draft and Bruce Clark

So a while back, we had a post about arguably the most historic NFL Draft year in 1983. The picks and the success of the players all speak for themselves. However, one thing always bothered me….why didn’t the Saints have a first round pick in this draft? I had posted a comment asking if anyone knew, but no one responded.
Well, I got curious after JaguarGator9 posted a video about another trade made in 1983 for Tim Wilson from the Oilers (by way of the Raiders curious enough). Anyways, apparently we traded our first in 1983 to the Packers in 1982 for the rights to Bruce Clark. Clark was originally drafted in 1980 by the Packers #4 overall but he opted to play in the CFL instead of playing for Green Bay because of a scheme concern.
So I was wondering if there are any posters who remember this player at all cause I am unaware of him at all since I wasn’t born until Mora became coach. Was this trade worth it considering how great the 1983 Draft was?

I remember him, and he was a good player. Don’t recall him being an all-pro type, but I remember he was one of the better Saints players.
Think he was from Penn St and wore #75.
If you assume the Saints would’ve picked Marino, which you can never expect from the management at that time, it was a horrible trade lol.

I don’t get the downvotes for my post. I was just detailing history.
As far as drafting Marino or really any QB, I don’t think that happens either. We just signed an aging Stabler who was with Bum in Houston before he left. Plus we drafted Dave Wilson in the supplemental draft in 1981 so I doubt we are grabbing another QB. Rather would we have gotten a RB like Gary Anderson or Roger Craig.
Further the Clark story is interesting as well.

Very good player, anchor of the Saints defense back then. Absolutely it was worth it especially the way the Saints draft history was.

Bruce Clark was a stud at Penn St. and the Saints. His college teammate at tackle was Matt Millen. Both All Americans, and pro Bowl players.
