Doomis went all in on trying to win with Winston and Dennis Allen. He still kept buying win now free agents and kicking the can down the road.
Only a player away in 2022. Only a QB away in 2023. Just need to add some veteran guys in 2024. frick, we may need to reset this roster (after FA, draft, and Carr retires).
By the way, who was/were the big signings in 2022. I am drawing a mental block about what they did before Carr, but I recall the uproar.

Everyone here knows that you knew.
We know. We know you also know now what you knew then is now knowable by even those who are unknowingly unknown.

Saints were completely littered with injuries during dennis' run
Every team has injuries. It’s the nfl. No depth from bad draft, no salary cap space from bad mismanagement to fill in with suitable backups in free agency.

Honey Badger, Marcus Maye, Jarvis Landry. Lost younger guys and got a lot older.
And in one of Loomis’s stupidest moves ever that year, he signed Andy Dalton who played so much it caused us to lose our 3rd round comp we were slated to get.

Loomis finally moved outside the Payton coaching tree when he replaced a fossilized Dennis Allen with Kellen Moore, but then he placed a franchise quarterback bet on a second-rounder who is about to turn 26 and moves like … a dinosaur.
Yeah, this hasn't exactly aged well. Not good evidence for the point. Plus citing Fansided is like using the Weekly World News to get real information.

Jim Finks and Randy Mueller were both better General Managers that knew personnel and ran the franchise better. Google those guys, since you probably never heard of them.
Loomis is an accountant that takes orders.
Oh, and since he is taking orders, why would any of these bad decisions be his fault??
I am thrilled you asked - Because the GM is where the buck stops. He is the backstop to the whims of a desperate coach trying to save his job and the stupidity act comes with it. The GM is supposed to run the franchise like a fiduciary, as if the franchise/business/money is his, and he makes decisions on behalf of that entity succeeding.
Any unnecessary irresponsible risk should be backstopped by an astute GM that makes decisions from a 30,000' view.
To be good at this job, you have to know personnel, cap, financing, roster management, facilities upgrades, free agent market, player agent negotiation tactics, coach candidates, etc. Loomis worries about the cap, and the people the coach tell him to sign, that's it.
Brain dead ownership is his only salvation. Still living off of the legends of Sean Payton, Drew Brees and SB XLIV. Its pathetic.

Enjoy another 6 - 11 year and then come tell us again how amazing the Saints are with Loomis at GM.

We’re 20th in cap space. Cleveland is 29th. You should pull for them for a few years

Ok I'm confused. Is he a bad GM because he makes bad decisions, or is he a bad GM because the head coaches he works for tell him to make bad decisions? Are you arguing that he is in charge and that's the problem, or he's not in charge and that's the problem? You're saying he doesn't understand football, and you are also saying he is just following orders, so in that case the coaches don't understand football. In other words, Sean Payton doesn't understand football, and neither does Kellen Moore.
Or are you just regurgitation every negative talking point you've ever heard about Loomis, and you don't understand that they all don't work together to form a cohesive argument?

They are getting rid of it. Could sign players and defer but they are not doing that. Its change!

I feel we should have signed edwards, but skip on Etienne and others. Just let Kamara play out his contract. Draft Bailey, Styles, Delane, Downs, or Bain this year
Exactly what I wanted to do. But no one wants to hear that on here. Pacheco went for one year 2 million. Allgeier and Dowdle went for 6 a year. White went for 2 million for one year.
Defense first round and a receiver the 2nd or 3rd.

2nd year of Moore. Don't care what happened before. Time to move on
New Era. We have a coach, QB, top 10 pick in the upcoming draft. Moore added players to his offense. What is not to be excited about? Plus our division is weak.

I thought this was unanimously understood that we were in a financial pickle for 2-3 years and we're almost out of it?
