I'm glad hes into the game and excited for his team, but at what point does he get angry and play through injury knowing that Ja is looked at as the best player from that class

Quickly turning into AD Jr AKA street clothes Jr. he better turn that reputation around quick.

Reggie even said something similar to what I said. He said that back in his day, he would have found a way to play through it. Wouldn't let Morant show him up in his own building.
Say what Reggie, but he was an-all time competitor

Saving Z for the western finals

Please don’t hate Zion because Aaron Nelson has evolved into the big conservative.

Being healthy in November and December isn’t the ultimate goal of this team. What you’re seeing is a staff that can afford to be conservative since the team isn’t scratching and clawing out of a horrible start like we have been for seemingly 5 years.

We rested our biggest star and still won the game, and we have "fans" who are whining.
We play again tomorrow against the Bulls and will have a fresh Zion Williamson for that game.

The team is going to be very conservative with him especially in back to back situations. I don’t think mid- November is the time to force the issue.

The TNT broadcast suggested Zion would play today. He day-to-day with a bruise.

quote:Pure BS. NBA is completely different today. Almost no one plays 82 games any more. We are in an era of load management and conservative approach to minor injuries.

It’s really common for players with minor injuries to rest for one game of back to backs. Hopefully Zion plays today and the sky is falling crowd can keep quiet for a few days.

Zion was visibly engaged in the game the entire time, supporting his teammates, always in the huddle, enthusiastic. You could 100% tell, he would be out there if trainers would let him.
Weird arse Toni would just snicker at the end of the bench with Tim Frazer and look like a visitor at his own game. You could tell he was the one who told trainers he couldn't go today.

Interesting comparison but Zion may not have a career as long as AD.
In his 1st 3 years, Zion has not been reliable, and that pattern may possibly be starting up again this season.
Perhaps something changes but so far, there is no indication that the Pelicans can rely on him playing a majority of the season.

I said somewhere else - half jokingly - that I'd trade Zion before Trey
Only half though

If you are hurt a vast majority of the time, cannot get on the court or on the field to actually play, you are basically worthless to the team.

Not in mid November thats for sure. I wanted to see him play too but it's not football. 82 games is alot. Back to back some weeks. We will see Memphis plenty this year and hopefully in the playoffs. You do also realize that it's not really up to him?

Making sure Zion and the rest of the rotation is available in April and May is all that matters. We are deep enough to win games when guys miss some games throughout the season.
I'd much rather be cautious of guys early on especially if we can manage games and win without key players than playing guys hurt and risk major injuries.

Yeah we are 2 games back from the first seed with the 2nd best point differential in the West, 2nd best net rating in the West, the 2nd highest Expected Win Percentage in the West, all despite one of the harder schedules to start the season and missing 2 of our best players several games apiece. With a league average SOS the rest of the way.
We are projected to finish 2nd in the West when the dust clears by a bunch of metrics.
I'd say thats a really nice start for a team that wasn't firing on all cylinders out the gate and most people believe our best basketball is still ahead of us
