Zion Williamson spent his morning taking the 85 or so kids signed up for his YMCA camp to the movies. You’ve seen the dunk videos but Zion really has been a visible part of the camp as much as possible.

He's spent a lot of time with these kids this summer, so good for Zion. A lot of times these athletes do drive by, photo op charity.

Also, Zion's look in this photo is definitely "I miss popcorn"

Zion’s a genuinely good guy. Always has been. Always will be.

Absolutely crazy that some people on this board and the media have tried to basically demonize him over being injured.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that most of these players are still kids. A significant portion of the 22-23 year olds graduating college are moving back home, staying on their parents’ insurance, essentially still being kids.

Our main core is that age or younger, less CJ and Val.

Zion just looks like a big kid enjoying the movies to me. AND missing popcorn, for sure.

It's persistent too

And I never got it.

First thing he did after coming back from Portland was go to the church he and his family got in with and was taking photos with everyone after mass, a couple days later is walking his dogs around the city near his parents enormous house they renovated, while donating a bunch of stuff to his brother's school in that same timeframe. All the while people were still slandering him and his commitment to the city

I’ll admit I’ve been concerned about the weight and injuries and at times I’ve been open to trading Zion.

But I’ve always liked and defended Zion as a human being. I don’t know if we have some 15-16 year olds on this board or something, but some of the ways he’s been insulted and attacked by a few on here has been pretty far out of line.

I’m all for the AD slander. He was a good bit older and deserved it. But the Zion stuff was out of hand for a guy who was basically fighting at least some form of depression due to unfortunate injuries that have robbed him of playing the game he loves.

And Z is still 21. I’m not a big fan of piling on kids when they are down just because some Espn and/or local media driven narratives that likely aren’t even 50% true.

I am Glad Z is healthy and Covid stuff is less at play now so Z can show his true sense of community and good nature. This is who he is. Different mitigating circumstances have just not allowed this level of community involvement the past few years.

I’d love to see actual film of this. That picture makes him look like he’d rather be anywhere else besides sitting in a movie with 85 kids. Not that I necessarily blame him. Im just wondering if he’s being forced to do this stuff which is entirely unnecessary in my opinion. I think Zion’s image is perfectly fine.

Zion himself his a great guy. But he has a friend that's always with him that sucks(according my buddy who works at Penthouse so TIFWIW). Hopefully he drops that dead weight (no pun intended).

There are a lot of video clips from this summer. Zion genuinely has enjoyed being around these kids.

This is a picture that captures 1/100th of a second. Maybe he wasn’t ready for it. Maybe the movie is boring. Maybe he has a stomach ache. Maybe he’s pondering the guaranteed money on his deal.

Perhaps he’s being encouraged to do some of this stuff, but I think he’s enjoying it on the whole.
