Is there any particular reason Gayle is holding onto this bum? Is it some kind of strategy? Like - is there a better time to fire a coach in order to attract the best options? Is it better to wait until the All-Star break?

I think that you could possibly peel some potential star-in-waiting coach to come and hone a young team, with the option to coach Zion. But is the time to get that kind of coach somewhere down the line? Is Alvin seen as a dead man walking?

Honestly - I really don't understand how he's still here. This is a team that has blown games because of his shitty rotations not just in years past, but this year too. AD liked him, and canning would have been another nail in the coffin if it was the beginning of LAST SEASON. But why in the frick is he still here now?

Such as who? If they fire Gentry mid-season (which they won’t do), Finch would be HC. Do expect things to really change that much? Finch already has a ton of input.

I think it the season continues off the rails, Gentry will move to the FO this summer and a new coach will be brought in.

Griff thinks he can do the job, ultimately. Nobody expected this new group to win right away.

I am rooting for us to continue to bottom out so that they are forced to fire Gentry...don't want that clown anywhere around Zion.

Griff has full control

the best organizations (not just in basketball), typically wait to fire someone until an excellent candidate emerges. in the first 20 games of the NBA season & start of the college basketball season, every qualified coach is fully engaged with their own team. NOT looking for other opportunities.

firing him now does nothing but create stress on the organization. you have to stick with him until the summer.

he's here because he emerged as a leader during the AD trade demand. he went to bat for this organization while Dell stayed silent. say what you will about his rotations and offensive scheme, Gentry is a leader. He's also the guy who's humble enough to bring in Chris Finch, Darren Erman, and now Jeff Bzdelik.

now, as Griff is changing everything from the ground up in this organization, he needed people he can trust through the transition. and he has a relationship with Alvin since their time in Phoenix. so Gentry stayed on, at least for now

They will sadly give him a chance with Zion. The only positive (Maybe) is Griffin didn't mention anything about Gentry last night. He referenced every single criticism except the one that comes up the most (Gentry)

This can mean he doesn't see a future with him or sadly mean the idea of firing him is comical to them.

Or that, with Zion, he turns things around, much to the chagrin of a few posters.

NY just fired Fiz, time for Uncle Al to go too. shite, a young coach like Fizdale would be a good and better fit than a Gentry for a young team like the Pels.

But the lack of bigs on this team and all the guards especially off guards or shooting guards is mystifying to me. Also, Ball is terrible, he can't shoot, yet, he continues to jack up treys like he's Redick or somebody. Lol They need to trade him and a 1st for a big like a Mitch Robinson, they need a big that can block shots and rebound because a Okafor is garbage and the kid(Jax hayes) needs help and relief.

The fans don't believe in him.
His players don't believe in him.
Why is he still here? Only one person can answer that.
Maybe someone from the media might want to ask the owner.

I feel your pain man...you got allies out here lol. Everyone else changes but him and we still suck. I feel you. But Gentry is INGRAINED in this organization. They WILL NOT fire him this season. No matter how bad it gets. And its gonna get REAL bad trust me. I don't think he will be the coach tho after this season. Front Office. Which im fine with just....just get him off the court for f*ck sake.
