If Trey Burke falls to us, Vasquez needs to go. He's not a piece to this team, rather just a bridge PG from the CP3 era. I'm not saying Rivers is a piece for the future, but I would like to find out for sure and with Vasquez and Burke, it would just take away minutes from him.

Obviously, the general went above and beyond last season and his rep is at an all time high, but is it high enough to swap for mid-1st rd pick in a weak draft?

Exactly. Should be at least a #15-#25 pick. And if that's the case, a mid-late 1st (GVs value), #6 overall, a 2014 1st does not = the #1 in this draft, where any of those players could go 1-5.

Agreed. We need to get something for him before he becomes our backup.

I would roll with Rivers backing up Burke all day.

So we're suddenly declaring Burke an NBA starter before he's sniffed an NBA practice?

And Rivers is suddenly a capable backup? You are assuming a lot when what we actually know is that Greivis is a capable guard.

I'm fairly certain Burke will be a solid contributor in his NBA career, he has a lot to prove in terms of being a full time starter on a good team. And I'm not talking Mario Chalmers or Derek Fisher level starter where the other 4 players are by far the best in the league, bc that won't happen with us

Any time you can start a rookie and have two 2nd year players as backups - one of whom just had the worst season of all time, you have to do it right?
The purpose of a bridge player is to actually be a bridge. Burke could learn a thing or two from Vasquez, who was 3rd in the NBA in assists last year and the only consistent player for the Pelicans throughout. Give Burke a year of learning the intangibles from Vasquez and I'd say he could take the reins.

Point Guards are like whiskey. They get better with age.

Exactly, although there is no guarantee he shows enough to earn the starting job. Burke may become a better PG than Vasquez. He may not. Let him prove to be a capable starting PG before you trade the only proven capable starting PG on our roster.

Completely agree

There's danger in going with too young

Id trade him....GV isnt beating CP3, RWestbrook, or TParker...if you cant be the best take your licks and assemble the talent to do so....dont dwidle in mediocrity and cost yourself a potential star in a deep draft...sink or swim develop what you have.

Normally I would agree, but you have to factor in that Vasquez will probably never have this high of a trade-value.

Nobody is beating those three save maybe Deron Williams. If you are going to be discontented with everything short of an all-NBA PG, you will see a revolving door of failure.

I'd rather try to win games than trades.

You really think the team is set to win with Vasquez starting?

Moreso than taking a serious step backwards in hope that one of two flawed players becomes a starting PG.

That makes no sense, considering Vasquez has flaws and not nearly as much upside at this point.
