I mean at least Gentry's team could score with anyone, this team is not good at any single thing.

And no this is not a "bring back Gentry" post, just amazes me how mediocre-to-bad this team is at everything.

Letting our veterans play even if they’re doing horrible.

I mean technically, we're good on defense.

We Were good on defense.

We'll probably be outside the top 10 after tonight.

I think we are sacrificing our offense for defense. Our offense doesn’t have much ball movement and guys aren’t running everywhere. They are basically just standing there and waiting for Zion to drive in or Ingram to ISO mid range jump shot.

Losing. How long before Zion is demanding a trade?

The doom posting is getting absurd.

We have the tenth ranked overall
defense despite the hardest schedule in the league, the best paint defense in the league, number 9 in fewest second chance points, and the best rebounding team in the league.

Which needs the context that because of the offseason and condensed schedule, we had to choose what we wanted to focus on as a team and leave the rest to work on as the season went on. We chose defense and we are a top ten defense in response. But the problem is you need offense as well if you want to win.

Personally my thoughts are that if Griff hadn’t waited around so long to be Lue’s fallback bitch, we could have brought in SVG a lot sooner and allowed him to get his staff together and have time crafting the offense and hit the ground running. But we did everything so late in the game it feels like our entire season, an already problematic one, has been playing catch up....without the time in the schedule to actually do it

But is it? 5 losses in a row, so I think we can all be a little doomed feeling right now!

Holy super small sample size overreaction Batman!

If this team had no room to grow, like a Dell team, then there would be cause for concern

We have a lot of picks and a lot of flexibility.

To go to water because of a 5 game losing streak is piss poor

There are positives and negatives within the results, but never feed your energy off raw W-L numbers

That's a recipe for depression always

If you go back and look at the thread where we talked about the schedule release, I said that we very likely would be below .500 coming back home to play SA. Likely 7-9 through the season to that point. If we go the rest of the way I estimated we’d end this trip 6-9 with the Dallas game having been cancelled.

We beat Toronto twice when many thought we shouldn’t and lost to CHA and OKC. DAL got cancelled but even before that I thought 2-5 on this road trip was realistically a good case scenario.

CHA and OKC sting but those are really the only two games I genuinely think we should have at least won one of the two, if not both.

Good Points

Rebound Rate is best in the league. In addition they are second in offensive rebound percentage. So we have the best rebounding team in the league.

FT attempts/gm is fifth best in the league. We get to the line. (Sadly we are the third worst in FT shooting percentage)

Opp FT attempts/gm is sixth best in the league. We don’t send our opponents to the line.

Points in the Paint we are twelfth best in the league.

Opp Points in the Paint is best in the league.

Defensive Efficiency is 11th in the league.

So Stan is right in general as they just need to cut out stupid turnovers. I also think the role players need to hit wide open 3 pt shots and the team would be extremely successful and competitive. The team is the worst in the league in 3 pt%. Other teams are scoring a league best from the 3 pt line, but not with a spectacular percentage. So really Stan’s philosophy is sound in that regard.

So I think our ailments are fixed with our role players not being screw ups. Don’t turn the ball over or you hit the bench. Make your wide open 3 pt shots or you hit the bench. If our role players can’t do that easy task then get rid of them and acquire/trade for new role players.

Look at the MASSIVE STRIDES we've taken defensively. Where's the praise for that?

No one is praising Stan for that, all people want to do is whine about the turnovers which will almost certainly be cleaned up in time

You can't please the masses, they would rather whinge than acknowledge all the good

Being a good defensive team is something to really be proud of!!!

It was always Fool’s Gold. Stats showed they were getting more lucky than good. And then it flipped. Pels started getting really unlucky and losing game they should have won but for shitty luck.

It ebbs and flows.
