I mean that’s all they’re asking for..

Their GM wanted 2 firsts, then was asking for only 1 first, and now apparently a 2nd round pick get you the former number 3 overall pick.

Get it done Dell.

The problem is we'd need to give them Ajinca too. We also don't have a current 2nd, we already gave that up to dump QPon. So it'd have to be a 2019 2nd and a negative contract with one more year on it. They'd probably do better just letting him walk.

What about this one:

Okafor and Brooklyns 2018 2nd rounder

for

Ajinca and Diallo

Pels get a big more likely to help this year, plus they offload Ajinca and take another crack at an early 2nd round pick next year

Sixers get the type of backup big they'd actually like in Diallo and get rid of the Okafor drama. Ajinca becomes an expiring contract for them next year that they can use in a trade.

I guess it would all come down to what the Pels think of Diallo. I've always liked him but he's not gonna improve without consistent minutes and that won't happen with Gentry coaching for his job.

Ajinca has to go. I'd gladly give them a future 2nd with Ajinca, and i'd gladly give them Diallo instead of the second.

Yeah, I feel like people are going to come in and say not to trade Diallo, he has so much potential, blah, blah, blah

And he does, but I just don't see how he develops it here.

I saw Diallo as a potential starter at one point but trading for Cousins completely changed the need for him and as you point out his ability to develop. If the season ends up being a success then you would hopefully have a decent shot at the ring chasing vet min bigs to replace Okafor. Brooklyn's 2nd gives you a chance to go after another Diallo and you dump Ajinca. To me the worst part of the trade is I don't know if Okafor gives you what you need at 3rd big. He's got known defense and attitude problems and he's the piece you need to hit the ground running and work right away.

He's a guy that can score, and is an expiring, and saves us $6M for next offseason, and gives us a little over a $1M in savings right now to get us further away from the tax line if we need to sign a filler player later this year.

I'd rather all of that than Diallo's potential, and i am one that has said repeatedly over the last few years that we need more young talent via the draft, and i'd like to ship this young draft pick we've seen for two years out for basically salary savings.

Yeah but it makes me wonder 2 things. If you could actually get an Ajinca dump, rental of a useful player and high 2nd for Diallo, could you get a late 1st for Diallo alone? Something like Ajinca/Asik/1st to Chicago for Mirotic or RoLo and then Diallo to Atlanta for the Rockets 1st?

That would be wonderful, although i can't see Diallo fetching a first, even if it is a very late first.
If i were Atlanta, I'd rather have the 30th pick than Diallo.

The one I would like

Asik, Ajinca, Diallo and first

For

Zbo and WCS

Gives you two different kinds of bigs depending on the situation.

We have no need for Zbo, and i don't want his contract.
I'd like WCS a lot.

Nerlens is getting hardly any playing time in Dallas, almost identical situation to Okafor in Philly.

I don't think there's a chance in hell you get WCS back and dump Ajinca/Asik. I don't know that Diallo has much value around the league. I'd be thrilled if he did, but I'm not sure why anyone would see him as a future starter right now.

That's a money/year neutral move. If they do that then they have to find money from somewhere else next year to stay out of the tax. You pretty much have to dump Moore just to have enough money to bring back Rondo at $4 and use 3 minimums to replace 5 rotation players in Nelson/Allen/Dante/Moore/Clark

I've only seen a few minutes of Nerlens but the dude looks more lost than Diallo. Freak athlete though, and better than nothing at all, but I'd rather Okafor.

Always in for more Wildcat front court players. WCS would be awesome.

Noel got screwed so bad by his agent. Cuban offered the dude 17 mill a year and his agent said it wasn’t enough, so Nerlens would just play for the qualifying offer and hope for a bigger deal this offseason. Now he’s barely seeing the floor, gaining no exposure in order to get a big contract. Feel bad for the dude.

Not really sure why he didn’t accept the 17 mill per year deal, think that was all on his agent. Took a huge gamble that won’t pay off.

This has me baffled as well. He has shown very little up to this point. He kind of gets dominated down low when he's in the game.

Can you? A team like Sac has to by definition overpay to get him to sign in the first place. Maybe the coach helped the deal not be that bad but it seems kind of pricey to me.

His agent actually seems to imply he thought it was a good deal. Could be revisionist history. Who knows.

quote:

“Mark and Rick [Carlisle] and Donnie [Nelson] definitely tried to make something work,” Walters told SB Nation. “They liked Nerlens and they made a really solid offer early in the process.”
