Do you think anyone who wanted to do that trade thought that Scoot would be better than a "healthy" Zion this season? Or, could it possibly be that they don't think Zion will stay healthy, and they think that Scoot will be better in 3 years.

Scoot will never be as good as Zion. Zion is generational for a reason.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm just saying, one game, or hell even one season isn't going to answer the question as to whether or not it would have been a smart move to trade Zion for Scoot. I say this as someone who didn't really care one way or another.

Has nothing to do with 1 game. Scoot would have to be pre-inkury Derrick Rose level of special for him to be generational. That's never going to be his ceiling.

It's not that I don't think Scoot can be good or even great. I just don't see how he's generational.

He's short, around 6'2 or 6'3.

He doesn't have elite athleticism like a DRose or Westbrook at the same height.

He also doesn't have elite 3 point shooting ability, or even close to it. The hope is that he becomes passable as 3pt shooter, he's never going to be a Steph or Dame ish type sharp shooter

So while he has talent and probably some elite skills, I can't think of comps over the past 20-25 years of dudes that height without crazy athleticism and also without good 3pt shooting that have been legit elite NBA players. Chris Paul maybe? But at his peak, he was a good 3pt shooter.

I was one of the ones who thought he was generational and I’m going to eat my crow he’s looked horrendous in the last two games. Yes, its two games but hes looked god awful. I just don’t see the explosiveness he had in the gleague. Could he still be good- yeah sure but a generational talent does not start out games like this. Wemby on the other hand has been great and I think he lives up to generational talent as long as he stays healthy. Who knows how close we were to getting Scoot, regardless maybe we dodged a major bullet here. To me the real star on the team looks like Shaedon Sharpe.
