I'm looking at all of these predicted rosters and no one has him in the starting 5?!? Just wondering if I missed something.

Seems like a superstar to me lol. I think we will have one of the best 6th men in the NBA.

he will be a bench player in name only. no doubt he will get more minutes than whoever starts at the 3 and 5. gonna be that manu type player for us.

6th Man role for Evans just makes way too much sense not to happen.

Staggering their minutes works because Monty can allow his best playmakers to do their thing and maintain quality production from the backcourt throughout the entire game. They can then form Voltron to close games down.

Edit: And what Fear said above. Evans will play starter minutes i.e. somewhere around 30mpg

Unleashing Tyreke and Anderson (along with J Smoove and an improved Rivers) in the 2nd unit is going to be awesome.

I think your Super Bowl thread on ST was better than this.

What you are missing is the reason the NBA has players like Manu Ginobli and Jason Terry in the first place. If you put Tyreke at starting SF then on any given possession at least one of Holiday/Gordon/Evans are going to waste. By starting him you are essentially taking shots from him and giving those shots to a bench player. When you bring him off the bench you give those shots back to him and take them away from Brian Roberts or Darius Miller. In crunch time you do want your best 5 on the floor at the same time, but for the rest of the game you're better off spreading them out so you can maximize the opportunities you have to use them.

that's actually not a terrible 2nd unit

evans/rybot/morrow could do some major damage, playing the pick/roll drive game of smith and evans

I guess from the "actually not" I was just thinking you were surprised it was a good unit.

I agree with your opinion on the second team. Should be fun to watch more than one or two good NBA players on the floor at the same time the entire game.

I love how everybody keeps naming random 6th men of the year to try to justify this argument. Its not that those guys are special or just fit a specific role on a team, but that you can take any decent starter and put him on the bench, then he'll wreck shop (meaning the team will win more). That just doesn't happen. All you do is clutter a position and cut minutes of better players.

On top of all that, what is the crunch time line-up everybody keeps talking about?

Holiday/Gordon/Evans/Anderson/Davis?

If you can't start them (cause this unit is too soft), then how can you finish a game with them? The end of the game is more physical and all those other issues (like sharing possessions) are even more critical. I don't get it..

It's not that you can't start them, it's that you only have one ball to go around and can't play guys 48 minutes per game. Again, if you play Holiday, Gordon and Evans together one of them is going to waste on each possession. Either start Evans and a guy like Aminu gets more shots, or bring Evans off the bench and Aminu is the one going to "waste" on "starting unit" possessions.
