Speaking of Trey, this just popped up in my YT recommendations:

Trey Murphy (with Kuminga, Cunningham, Drummond, etc) for an NBA Open Run

Trey doin’ some sharp-shooting’.

I’d throw a million on Trey to win 6 man of the year

Fanduel doesn't have 6th man as something you can bet on.
DK only has Jose and Larry as someone you can bet on.

both have Trey in the Most Improved Player.
+6000 on FD, +8000 on DK

I don't look at other sites so maybe Ceasers might have it.

I threw $10 for Trey to win MIP
I also have money on Herb for DPOY and Zion MVP, and Willie as COTY.
Also on LSU to win NCAAF and JD to win Hiesman.

I"m not a homer at all.
I say that, but they really aren't bad bets. If we are healthy, I could easily see Willie winning COTY if we win about 54 games, adn if that happens then the Herb and Trey ones are definitely in play. I think Zion is the biggest longshot. Jokic and Luka just do too much outside of scoring, and Embiid's and Giannis have great defense to supplement. Zion is just a scorer. Maybe if he did something unprecedented with shooting % or somethign like that he might have a chance.

are my eyes deceiving me?
is that Drummond hitting open 3's and starting fast breaks looking athletic?

instead of signing a worthless Zeller, Kira should have been traded for Drummond. I don't care what anyone says about big guys don't affect winning. He is a rim protector that is still probably the best rebounder in the game today. Not sure why you wouldn't that on your roster as a bench player.

Herb is an NBA starter. His defense is too good to not be out there on the best offensive player.

I know Trey wants to start, but he'll play top 4 minutes on this team, and i think having a lineup with Trey/Zion going up against bench players in that end of 1st/3rd quarter and early 2nd/4th is what we want to to try to do.
Trey is 20ppg with 50/40/90 potential, he is also an NBA starter.

I get that you want Herb out there to be on the opposing team's best player, but you also want Trey out there mirroring as many minutes as possible with Zion.

I'd welcome a Kira for Drummond trade too, but Drummond won't be hitting 3s and running breaks when teh season starts, nor will he be a terribly good basketball player. But yes, more useful to this squad than Kira.

Doubt he'll have a chance to win 6 man of the year award. Trey doesn't shot hunt and plays within the flow of the offense. Most 6th man awards go to on ball microwave scorers who can generate their own offense.

Outside of the outlier big Harrell, The last guy that wasn't really an on ball guy who won it was JR Smith but he was always a microwave scorers who shot hunt even without a strong on ball game.

i agree, which is why he shouldn't start.
Zion plays 5 minutes then comes out. he's always done that. That's when Trey should come in and then Zion comes in like 4 minutes later. Like i said, have Trey/Zion playing heavy minutes together against the bench players.

and yes Trey is a starter. He's going to play more minutes than JV, or any other 5 we get, and he should be playing more minutes than CJ and Herb.
At no point should we not have at least 2 of BI/Zion/Trey on the court.

I look forward to a seeing a lineup of Jose/Dyson/Trey/Zion/Larry and mixing in Hawkins with Dyson as well. They are going to play fast and likely see a lot of open shots and layups with Jose pushing the pace, and the guys seem to all play with more energy when Jose is out there.

i know that, it was just shocking to see him do that, and actually look decent.

He's still a much better player than Zeller.
Unfortunately a Kira for Drummond swap still has us like $500k over the tax line.

It's exactly what we try to do.

This is the main question to be answered. What’s more valuable? Having Herb mirror the opposing teams best player or having all of Trey and Zion’s minutes mirror each other?

For sure, I think the Zeller signing also had a lot to do with having a player available to help install Borrego’s offensive system. Zeller was with Borrego and Charlotte for a number of years.
