No, but that doesn't matter to him. He thinks they would have. That's all that matters to him, and he won't consider that premise. We've had this argument tons of times since the trade happened.

He'll just respond that of course they take the deal, it's still really good. They'd be foolish not to accept it. Stuff like that..

It’s pretty much impossible to PROVE that they would have taken something that was never even brought up in trade talks. The fact that every single article and writer who covers the NBA ripped it should tell you something, the fact that it was reported that Atlanta called to make sure that Dumars actually was crazy enough to offer something so ridiculous should also tell you something. And the fact that he was stupid enough not to even ask for a protection on the pick tells you how incredibly stupid the trade was. We offered what it would take to move from 13 to 3 to move from 23 to 13.

Surely there are some G League scrubs we can get with the 2nds for gifting Jose away to help the future Kenner team.

Besides common sense and the reports that they were stunned it was unprotected? And that that trade was laughed at by pretty much everyone?

How about the 3 other teams that turned down the same trade?

Remember how getting rid of Zion would be an easy thing?

Yes they have reports of Alt being surprised, but that does not say they did not turn down the protected first and then could not believe the Pelicans counter offered without protections.

Let me ask you. Everyone can agree Dumars has been hammered for including an unprotected first in the trade. I mean absolutely hammered. Don’t you think if what you are saying was true, he would have mentioned he tried to include a pick protection but Atlanta would not go for it? He never has said that. Why do you think that is??

Has Dumars said what we offered any of the other teams that would not trade with us?

I've seen many reports that after we drafted Fears, we started offering the same trade to every subsequent team that had the next pick. Each team turned it down and we never adjusted it as it slid down. Right or wrong, given all reports, it's made sense they did that, especially given how they valued Queen.

I mean if you think you are getting the player you want to build around you go get him.

If DQ becomes a corner stone or an all star it was worth it.

There are no guarantees any of the 1-5 picks will be better than DQ, then again they all could be better.

I mean look a Zion and Ja two absolutely cant miss NBA prospects and we have seen how that went.

I looked at Zions draft class, I did not know Poole was drafted at 28.

I get both sides of the debate. It was an overpay, and most believe we could have done the trade without including our unprotected 2026. Maybe thats including more picks or building it around a desirable piece (like Murphy or Jones). Its a valid argument. We'll just never know what might have worked.

Being in Atlanta, and seeing their management, I think we could have definitely secured a better deal. Their management is horrible, and have no idea what they are doing. They only thing salvaging them now is possibly getting over on the Pelicans. Otherwise they'd be the ones people are mocking.
