This was a very bad night for New Orleans basketball.

The season has been slipping away. The preseason excitement is gone. The fans are fading away. People can’t sell tickets that were once a big commodity for 6 bucks.

On National TV we get our asses absolutely handed to us. Lonzo Ball is terrible. Gentry’s failings as a coach are highlighted.

You could tell towards the end that fans have just had it.

And we learn that Zion will not be back on schedule. In fact...we have no clue when he will be back.

It’s not good right now. There is a dark cloud hanging over this franchise and things are about to fall into an abyss we will not recover from this year.

We need some good news, soon.

And Joel Meyers was awesome for TNT and they will probably try to steal him from us.

I’m just looking at the fans online and especially on twitter and people are UPSET.

They are on the verge of a total collapse of any semblance of fan support. Something has to give. Soon.

Was already gonna be very difficult for the team to overcome the Zion injury PR wise but a year like this is damn near critical. We should've really gone with the slow and steady sales pitch, but who's to say we would've survived that support wise. We have no identity and people are sick of it. The arena was half empty and everyone knew it was over when we couldn't score after we pulled within 3. The only thing that can save the team PR wise is another top draft pick and/or a big trade bringing in another exciting star potential piece. And a new coach of course

Which would have been fine if Griffin hadn’t pumped so much sunshine.

Was definitely a bad move on his part but can't blame him for wanting to believe in a guy he won with in the past. Hopefully he learns from this mistake and brings in a winner

I’ll also say that fans are underestimating just how critical a loss Favors/Zion has been. The coaches haven’t adjusted as well as fans expected them to, but that’s not something you can paper over easily. After Demps made the mistake of dumping Robin Lopez we tried to get by with Ryno and minimum guys at center and it was brutal even with AD.

This may be really pessimistic of me but I think we have to presume that we won't see much of Favors this year. Besides supporting his family right now I really believe this system is contributing to his injuries and he's continue to be banged up. Of course I'm hoping for the best though

it's honestly pretty incredible just how quickly things went downhill after so much good stuff was happening. seemed like pels were stacking win on win this offseason between getting griff and staff, winning the lotto, getting a huge haul for that unibrowed clown, adding guys like redick and favors, summer league team playing well with NAW/jax/didi looking legit, an undefeated preseason with lots of players looking great and of course zion looking fantastic....then as soon as the news dropped about zion's injury, everything has been downhill since. seems like nothing can go right now

Favors, maybe.

But I really feel bad for Zion. Kid is a teenager and people are gonna expect him to come back from a serious knee injury and turn this shitshow around. We know rookies almost never impact W/L records.

Also, if we're gonna have a real conversation about people's frustrations(or at least mine), it deserves more context. Im an adult, I understand what Griff was doing with the hype over the summer and the Jrue stuff. I can look past that stuff.

The problem is HOW we've lost so many games. You can't beat teams for 40+ minutes, only to lose in crunch time over and over and over, then come back and blame injuries. Nothing but excuses. We've had a lot of excuses being made for this team for years now and the sad part is its the fanbase thats more than willing to peddle them. Its getting old FAST.

We're fighting off a literal G league team for the worst record in the conference.

shite is unacceptable.

Griff better have one hell of a script ready if he's gonna try and sell people on this bullshite again in the offseason.

That game today was damn near unwatchable. It was a culmination of a pathetic display of basketball from the end of that Laker game up until now. It’s disappointing. Changes need to be made.

I’m sick of the excuses. Teams like the Pacers have had a shite ton of injuries this year including their best player still being out and they’ve been playing fine. Coaching is out issue and will always be our issue

I understand there are injuries but whenever you see the same mistakes night in and night out not just this year but since this clown has been here you have to make a change because obviously he is incapable of doing so as a coach. Every team has injuries and the Pels have had plenty but it is no excuse for the constant lack of intensity and offensive sets. He just inst a good coach and never has been. He runs this team like we have a fricking steph curry or MVP Nash. It is a joke

I’m not making any excuses, but this is sort of the course for a very young team. Two steps forward. One step back. We have to figure out how to close, then get routed. Two steps forward, one step back.

I think people would be perfectly ok with that if:

Gentry was not the HC

and/or

We were playing well and just weren't talented enough.

Man, the darkest days by a mile were
the OKC Exile. This is a cakewalk by comparison. I sort of have an existential
point of view regarding the NBA in New Orleans That goes back at least to the Hornets relocation and probably to the
drama surrounding the Grizzlies and New Orleans.
