I agree, hopefully he can contribute on defense and hit at least 36% from 3.

His 3 point shot almost doesn't matter. Cunningham shot 39% from 3 and defenses still ignored him. Hill can drive and pass ok, if he's going to be a useful contributor on offense I think it will have to be taking advantage of those skills and just be part of the motion in the offense.

We have a corpse in Ajinca sitting on the bench and a guy that is a borderline bum in Hill that may play huge minutes for us and is getting paid a lot.

The guy that might be playing 3 for us is woefully undersized for the position full time.

To me, unless you're GSW, a move is always needed. And I don't see this team as a 4 seed currently.

That doesn't mean I'm not excited about this team's potential though. I really am.

I would say picking where we finish in the standings is a moot point.
We should be able to win 50 games. Whether that makes us the 3 seed, or the 6 seed, so be it. We won 48 last year, and i think we should be able to improve on that. That would be a successful season imo.

I'm really anxious to see what Payton can do. If he can be an actual contributor to this team, especially on the defensive end, and find what his role is offensively on this team, i think we can be a really good team, and will be without a doubt in the conversation as the next set of teams after the Warriors and Rockets. As of today, that spot is up in the air, and i'm not giving it to Utah simply b/c the media just assumes they will be better than last year and we won't.
If Payton figures out that all he needs to do is keep the offense running, and simply take advantage of getting in the lane when the opportunity presents itself, not forcing the issue, he'll be a good PG for us.

I have no doubts Randall is going to play well for us, and i can't help but be excited about how Jahlil has looked in the very short clip of practice and the short clip of him shooting around a few weeks ago.

The biggest thing i'm excited about is hearing guys talk about the team atmosphere. It sounds very conducive to allowing these new guys to not be pressured to do more than they are capable of, and simply find their role on the team where they can contribute. True team atmosphere is what sounds like is happening, and i love it.
So often guys go to a new team, especially when on a 1 year deal and they are mainly interested in showcasing themselves above all else, and that doesn't seem like that would fly on this current team.

but you’re probably talking about giving up a 1st for an expiring Carroll or Ariza.

If someone like Carroll allowed you to dump salary, bring him back on a cheap contract in 2019 with solid role player production that could be a win. That is of course true if it gave us flexibility to keep our core of Davis, Holiday, Mirotic, and Randle.

Somehow Solomon Hill’s injury altered people’s memory of how “good” he was prior to his injury .... which could be referred to on this board as the Quincy pondexter effect. Not buying it.
